Background

Tiger Television was a British television production company that was formed in 1988 by Peter Bennett-Jones. It was particularly known for its sitcoms (most notably Mr. Bean), though it also specialised in shows from other genres. It was later merged with Aspect Film & Television to form Tiger Aspect Productions in 1993.

Visuals: On an orange marble background, there is a box with blue tiger stripes. Below it, there's the stacked text "A TIGER TELEVISION PRODUCTION" or "TIGER TELEVISION PRODUCTION", and below that, the copyright and network info. The pattern of the tiger stripes changes differently throughout the duration of the logo.

Variants:

• On the Mr. Bean episodes "Mr. Bean in Room 426" and "Mind the Baby, Mr. Bean", respectively, an in-credit notice for Thames and Central Independent Television is shown with a copyright notice reading "© Thames Television PLC/Central Independent Television PLC MCMXCIII" which appears below.
  • Another variant of the above but with the "IN ASSOCIATION WITH THAMES TELEVISION" text also exists, which was seen on a foreign local television airing of Mr. Bean, which is then followed by the 1990 Thames International logo.
• Sometimes, the logo zooms out to reveal it was in a box with copyright info shown below.
• On the obscure BBC show Funny Business, this logo shares the screen with the 1988 BBC logo.
• At the end of VHS releases of Tiger Television's shows by Thames Video and the unaired Mr. Bean sketches "The Library" and "The Bus Stop", this logo fades into the still version of the 1991 Thames Video logo.
• On The Driven Man with Rowan Atkinson, the text is reworded to "A TIGER TELEVISION PRODUCTION FOR CENTRAL" with a copyright notice reading "© Central Independent Television plc MCMXC", which is then followed by the 1990 A Central Programme for ITV endcap.

Technique: Fading effects.

Audio: Usually none or the ending theme of the programme, though sometimes, the sound of a tiger growling is heard.

Audio Variant: On the DVD print of the Mr. Bean episode "The Trouble with Mr. Bean", the tiger growling sound effect plays over both this logo and the 1989 Thames Television Programme for ITV endcap.

Availability:

• It might be replaced with the 1998 Tiger Aspect Productions logo on current prints of shows, but this can still be found on VHS and DVD releases of the short-lived series Mr. Bean.
• It is also seen on other shows, such as Rowan Atkinson Live and The Driven Man with Rowan Atkinson, as well as the obscure BBC show Funny Business and The Movie Life of George, respectively.
• The version with the in-credit notice for Thames and Central was also seen on a December 8, 1997 rerun of the Mr. Bean episode "Mind the Baby, Mr. Bean", which is then followed by the 1997 Central Programme for ITV endcap.
• So far, the version fading into the still version of the the 1991 Thames Video logo is known to appear on the Mr Bean VHS releases released by them, such as The Amazing Adventures of Mr. Bean and The Exciting Escapades of Mr Bean, among others.
• The version fading into the still version of the 1991 Thames Video logo is also intact on the DVD prints of the unaired Mr. Bean sketches "The Library" and "The Bus Stop", due to them being taken from the 1991 UK VHS masters of The Amazing Adventures of Mr. Bean and The Exciting Escapades of Mr Bean, respectively.
• The version with the in-credit notice for Thames Television is also strangely seen at the end of the Mr. Bean episode "Goodnight Mr. Bean" (plastering the 1993 Tiger Aspect Productions logo), included on the original pressing of the 1997 UK VHS release of The Complete Mr. Bean Volume 1 from Thames Video and VCI.
