Background

BBC Children's Productions (formerly known as BBC Children's International and also known as CBBC Productions) is the production division of CBBC.


BBC Children's International

Logo (1991-1997)

Visuals: There is the word "CHILDREN'S" in its font from the 4th and 5th CBBC logos and in a rainbow gradient colour. The 1988 BBC logo is also seen on top and "INTERNATIONAL" is seen below the word.

Variants:

  • The logo can be seen in a white box.
  • On The Wrong Trousers and episodes of Monty the Dog, the 1988 BBC logo is placed underneath "INTERNATIONAL".
  • It can be seen as an in-credit logo.
  • On William's Wish Wellingtons, this logo appears with the Hibbert Ralph Entertainment logo.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: Either just the ending theme of the programme or none.

Availability: Seen on many BBC Children's programmes and shows such as Noddy's Toyland Adventures and William's Wish Wellingtons, respectively.

  • This logo is also preserved on the two Wallace & Gromit shorts: The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave, respectively.
  • The Noddy's Toyland Adventures season 3 variant of this logo is also intact at the end of the Noddy's Toyland Adventures episode "Noddy and Father Christmas", included on the 1999 UK VHS release of Toybox Christmas Video from BBC Video.

CBBC Productions

1st Logo (1997-2002)

Visuals: Over the tail end of the 1997 CBBC idents, there is the 1997 BBC logo, along with a copyright notice.

Variants:

  • Starting in 1999, the URL "www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc" appears above it.
  • On some shows, the normal CBBC print logo is used instead.

Technique: Same as before.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability: It was seen on some CBBC shows, like Byker Grove.

2nd Logo (2002-2005)

Visuals: There is the 2002 CBBC logo from the era, with copyright information below the logo.

Variants:

  • On programmes produced by its Scotland division, the BBC Scotland logo is shown, replacing the standard BBC logo.
  • It also shares the screen with other logos on some shows like Byker Grove.

Technique: Same as before.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability:

  • Can be seen on CBBC original programming, like Byker Grove and later seasons of Get Your Own Back.
  • The Scotland variant appears on shows such as 50-50.

3rd Logo (2005-2007, 2010)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the 2005 CBBC logo with the copyright disclaimer below.

Variants:

  • The background may change depending on the show.
  • It sometimes shares the screen with other logos.

Technique: Same as before.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability: It can be shown on CBBC original programming, like original airings of Charlie & Lola, The Secret Show, and Shaun the Sheep.

4th Logo (2007-2016)

Visuals: On a black background, there is the 2007 CBBC logo appearing in its 2D print form with the copyright disclaimer appearing below.

Variants:

  • The logo may sometimes share the screen with other logos.
  • The background may change depending on the show.
  • From 2012 right until 2016, the 2007 CBBC logo appears in its 3D print form.
  • On programmes produced by its Scotland division, the BBC Scotland logo appears below the 2007 CBBC logo.
  • Since 2014, the text below the 2007 CBBC logo reads "CBBC Production Scotland".
  • There is a version where its just the 2007 CBBC logo with the 1997 BBC logo appearing below.

Technique: Same as before.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability: Can be seen on many CBBC original programming at that time, and it is also preserved on DVD releases.

5th Logo (2016-)


Visuals: On a black background, there is the 2016 CBBC logo appearing with the copyright disclaimer underneath the logo.

Variants:

  • This logo often shares the screen with other logos.
  • The background may change depending on the show.
  • The outlined box and the BBC logo may be in black or dark blue.
  • When Creeped Out aired internationally, an animated ident was used as a closing logo.
  • From 2016 until 2018, the text below the CBBC logo reads "CBBC Production".
  • Starting in 2018, the text "BBC Children's Productions" appears below the 2016 CBBC logo.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability: It's seen on all CBBC original programming from 2016 onwards.

BBC Children's Productions

Logo (2018?-)


Visuals: On a black background, there is the 1997 BBC logo with the text "Children's Productions" in BBC Reith Sans font next to it with the copyright disclaimer for the BBC below.

Variants:

  • The background may change depending on the show and the text may be in black.
  • For shows that they produced for CBBC, the 2016 CBBC logo may be seen.
  • For shows that they produced for CBeebies, the CBeebies logo can be seen.
  • The text along with either the CBBC or the CBeebies logo may sometimes share the screen with other logos, with the text appearing below with the copyright disclaimer.
  • Starting in 2022, the current BBC logo replaces the one before it.

Technique: Same as before.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability: Used in tandem with the previous logo. Seen on many CBBC and CBeebies programmes produced in-house, like Newsround and Little Daydreams, respectively. With BBC Children's Productions' operations moved into BBC Studios in 2022 and rebranding to BBC Studios Kids & Family, this logo's days are numbered.
