Fox Kids

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Ident (1990-1992)

Visuals: On a space background, the screen zooms out from a CGI "Fox" logo, which is perched atop the large lettering "KIDS", which is also above the smaller text "NETWORK", which has "panes" above and below it. The entire monolith is a shiny gold and illuminated constantly by two searchlights from the left and right sides of the screen. As the screen zooms out, the structure rotates from right to left on the screen.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the ident would be customized for a particular series, before the program starts.
    • The Tom and Jerry Kids Show: Tom chases Jerry behind the Fox Kids Network logo. Jerry hops into the "D" in "KIDS", to hide. At the end, Tom smashes into the logo.
    • Bobby's World: Bobby Generic was riding his tricycle through the logo.
    • Muppet Babies: Miss Piggy walks to the logo, and then opens the "R" in "NETWORK", to let her friends in.
    • Taz-Mania: Taz spins to the logo. Taz stops spinning, as he ate up "OR" in "NETWORK". At the end, Taz starts spinning again.
    • Little Shop: Seymour Krelborn walks behind the logo. Suddenly, Junior pops out of the "D" in "KIDS", as he grabs Seymor, shouting "Feed me!".
    • Attack of the Killer Tomatoes: The killer tomato was flying a plane (which was animated in CGI), squirting the tomato juice all over the Fox Kids Network logo. At the end, the other killer tomatoes appeared.
    • Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures: Bill and Ted's time-traveling phone booth would zoom past and through the letter "D" in "KIDS", then land and replace the "I" in "KIDS"; it would then crackle with electricity, causing the logo to flash and Bill and Ted to appear in front, shouting "Excellent!".
    • Peter Pan and the Pirates: Peter Pan flying behind the Fox Kids Network logo.
    • Beetlejuice: Beetlejuice lands on the middle of the logo, as morphs into the letter "S" in "KIDS".

Technique: Early 90s CGI.

Audio: An instrumental variant of the 1990 "It's on Fox!" music.

Availability: Was only used as an ID during the early years of the Fox Kids block.

2nd Ident (1993-1996)

Visuals: No real standard ident, just idents patterned after the various bumpers used by FK during the period.

Variants:

  • Wilby is jumping on his bed, but after a second his mom says "Will be!" (which is also how his name is pronounced). Once he falls off and on his face, he says "Right back."

Technique: Varied, though it's mostly 2D Animation.

Audio: Varied.

3rd Ident (1997-1999)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a black square with the red text "FOX KIDS", where the "X" is in searchlights, along with a black rectangle below. Then the rectangle suddenly moves to reveal red text, making the square, the text, and said rectangle jitter. Then the square stops jittering and "shines". The rectangle stops jittering as well.

Variant: There is also a Hebrew version.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A cartoony-like "boing" sound, which echoes.
