Background

Mendelson/Melendez Productions was a production company founded as a partnership between animator Bill Melendez, and executive producer Lee Mendelson.

1st Logo (February 14, 2002)

Visuals: There is a red pencil on a white background. Surrounding the pencil are the words "A Mendelson-Melendez Production" in a childish font.

Technique: A still image.

Audio: ABC's generic theme. But on the DVDs and international prints, just the closing theme of the special.

Availability: Seen on A Charlie Brown Valentine on ABC reruns as well on the DVD release of special. Productions prior to this only used an in-credit notice.

2nd Logo (December 8, 2002-November 20, 2006)

Visuals: There is a paintbrush on a white (or black) background, surrounded by a circular blue stroke around it. It is also surrounded by the words "MENDELSON" on the left of it, and "MELENDEZ" on the right, with the paintbrush serving as a slash.

Variant: On Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown, the logo is on a black background. The paintbrush and stroke are lavender, "MENDELSON" is yellow, and "MELENDEZ" is green.

Technique: A still image.

Audio: The closing theme of the special. ABC airings instead use either a generic jingle or an announcer plugging a show following the special.

Audio Variant: On Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown, a snippet of "Linus and Lucy," performed by David Benoit, is heard over the logo.

Availability: Can be seen on Charlie Brown's Christmas Tales, Lucy Must Be Traded, Charlie Brown, I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown, and He's A Bully, Charlie Brown.
