© Channel Four (year in numbers)

Variants: The appearance of the logo has changed over the years:

  • On its first appearance on September 13, 1985, the background contains the colours blue and gray. The text is in a serif font with a longer shadow and contained within a red, white, and blue patterned square border.
  • The next graphic on September 22, 1985 features the same background, except the text is now in Arial and the bordered box is removed.
  • The next match on September 29, 1985, and the rest of the 1985-86 season, has the colours inverted and blue becoming dark blue. The font of the text is back to the first version and the company name is white, whereas the rest is yellow.
  • During the 1986-87 season, the background now contains the colours black and blue. The font of the text is also different.
    • During Christmas, a graphic consisting of "Season's Greetings" in a white, hand written font in between two mistletoes is seen underneath the copyright notice. Plus, the text has been shifted upwards to accommodate said graphic.
    • This variant also has a superimposed version.
    • There is an alternate version of this graphic used during the holiday season where the bottom colour is dark red.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: The closing theme of the programme.

Availability: The logo is seen on Channel 4's coverage of the 1985-86 and 1986-87 American football games, titled American Football.

2nd Logo (September 13, 1987-January 22, 1989)

Visuals: Superimposed and placed within the end credits, "{color|darkblue|C}}HEERLEADER", with the former letter thrice the size of the rest of the text, is shown with a white shadow facing the bottom right, a red, shooting ball above "HEERLEADER", and "PRODUCTION", in white and spaced out format, below the logo.

Variant: In the logo's early years, "PRODUCTIONS" is black and the shadow is gray.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: The closing theme of the programme.

3rd Logo (September 10, 1989-January 30, 1994)

Visuals: Against a gray gradient wall background, a flowing, red wavy path with a pencil sketched texture, zooms out and rotates clockwise alongside a yellow and blue copy of it underneath. Backing away further, the paths are joined by "CHEERL" and "ADER", both in a thin blocky font, on the left and right respectively as they rest on a normal angle. Afterwards, "A" and "PRODUCTION", in tall fonts, appear over and underneath the logo alongside additional in-credit information on the bottom of the screen.

Variant: During the 1989-90, 1990-91, and 1991-92 American football seasons, a sponsorship logo can be seen within the logo, specifically underneath Cheerleader's. These include The Daily Telegraph for the former and Coca-Cola for the latter two.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The closing theme of the programme.

Availability: The logo is seen on American football games covered by Channel 4 from this period under American Football, in addition to sumo matches under the name Sumo.
