Background

Brook Lapping is a British television and radio production company. It was formed in 1997 from the merger of Brook Associates and Brian Lapping Associates.

1st Logo (January 10, 1999-January 19, 2003)

Visuals: "BROOK LAPPING" in white is shown separated by a square box made up of two triangular halves coloured green and blue.

Variant: On programmes produced for the BBC, the logo shares the screen with the 1997 BBC logo.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.

Availability: The logo made its earliest appearances on Finest Hour and Britains Slave Trade. It later appeared on Queen Victoria's Empire, Endgame In Ireland, and The Fall of Milosevic.

2nd Logo (April 5, 2003-May 29, 2013)

Visuals: A white symbol consisting of an upside-down "V" inside a mostly complete circle is shown against the box from before in a larger size. "BROOK" and "LAPPING" in white and a wide, blocky font, are over and underneath the symbol and "A Ten Alps Company" is shown underneath the overall logo.

Variants:

  • An early variant exists, where the colouring of the box is darker. The box would remain that way until 2010.
  • From 2005 until 2010, the spacing on the text is smaller.
  • An animated variant also exists, where the text appears first, followed by the forming objects in the box. Here, the point rises within a circular mask, the circle surrounding the point is drawn from left to right, and the two triangular pieces rotate within a box mask.
  • Sometimes, the logo also shares the screen with other logos (including the 1997 BBC and 1999 Channel 4 "Square" logos).

Technique: A still, digital graphic. 2D computer animation for the animated variant.

Visuals: A detailed version of the previous logo is shown where the symbol is thinner, the boxes gain shading, and "BROOK" and "LAPPING" are displayed in a normal font.

Variant: On programmes produced for the BBC, the logo shares the screen with the 1997 BBC logo.

Technique: A still, computerized graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.

Availability: The logo appears on Live Aid Remembered, The Rise and Fall of Tony Blair, Live 8: A Bittersweet Symphony, among other docuseries and documentaries from this period.
