Background

MTV Animation is the animation department of the television network MTV, founded in 1993.



1st Logo (March 3, 1997-February 11, 2001)


Visuals: On a black background is a stylized version of the MTV logo in red and with cartoony feet, and the letters "ANI" and "ATION" on its left and right sides, with the gap serving as the "M". The toes on the feet wiggle.

Variant: An extended version exists. One leg steps in and wiggles its toes, then it zooms out to reveal the full MTV creature walking forward. "ANI ATION" then splashes onto it, to which it jumps up and down, brings forth the "MUSIC TELEVISION" banner and wiggles its toes.

The logo is seen on the bottom instead of appearing in the middle, with "Animation" replacing "Production Development" in the same font. The alien bumps the man, who strikes him down (the logo wiggles to the impact) and looks at the robot and bunny, who are caught off-guard.

Audio: A grunt, followed by a punch sound effect.
