Background

Discovery+ (pronounced "Discovery Plus"; stylized as discovery+) is a streaming service owned by Warner Bros. Discovery. The service focuses on factual programming drawn from the libraries of Discovery's main channel brands, as well as original series (including spin-offs of programs from Discovery's networks), and other acquired content. Discovery+ is one of the combined company's two flagship streaming services, the other being Max (which primarily focuses on the libraries of HBO, Warner Bros., Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, and their related brands). Most of its Discovery+ content has been integrated into Max, which was officially launched on May 23, 2023. The service is planning to be phased out internationally starting in 2024, due to the impending international rollout of Max.

1st Logo (March 23, 2020-)

Visuals: A transparent oblong shape draws in a jagged shape on a blue background, as it stops and turns into the "globe" in the Discovery+ logo, a rainbow-colored stylized "D" (in a red-yellow-green gradient) and a circle (in a blue-purple gradient) with a white border, which emulates the Discovery Inc./Channel logos. The text "discovery" fades in below the logo, as a minus sign flies in and turns into a plus sign, positioning beside the "y", as "ORIGINAL" cuts in below.

Trivia: This logo was made to fit with the Discovery channels' 2020 rebrand in the UK.

Technique: Computer animation by Discovery Creative London.

Audio: When the oblong shape draws in, what appears to be a reversed shattering sound is heard, then a synth beat is heard as the logo is formed. Composed by Zelig.

Availability: Seen in front of various Discovery+ shows and films. [Examples?] Used in tandem with the logo below.

2nd Logo (January 4, 2021-)

Visuals: The screen zooms out in the middle of the "globe" in the Discovery+ logo, which is in 3D, as it flips and zooms back on a blue background, as rings resembling a lens flare and rainbows are shown. The rings then disappear as the logo positions in the center of the screen, and the company name in the same font as before and "ORIGINALS" in blue appear below, with a reflection of the text below it.

Variant: On TV-MA-rated Discovery+ original series, a content warning appears after the logo's animation.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A rising violin sound, then a loud synth beat, and a piano tune as the text appears.

Availability: Same as before. [Examples?] Used in tandem with the above.
