Background

AWE Productions, Inc., also known as AWE Games, was an American video game developer founded in 1997 by James M. Wheeler (although their website retroactively stated they were founded in 1992 based on his resume). The company has developed more than 70 games and owned the licenses for PC games based on Agatha Christie and SpongeBob SquarePants. The company was quietly dissolved in 2010.

1st Logo (2001-February 2, 2003)

Visuals: On a black background, the letters A and E slide in from the sides and a 4-pointed star glows in for a second. The letters stop, and a W wipes in vertically from both directions, while the A and E are copied next to the mirrored W, causing the original wordmark to move up. A few seconds after they appear, G and S appear from their sides causing "GAMES" to form. "AWE Productions, Inc." also appears below the logo via a "blur" effect.

Variants:

  • On Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius for PC, the logo is still.
  • On The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron, after the THQ logo, the word "GAMES" and below it, the white text "AWE PRODUCTIONS, INC." slowly flies out as the white word "AWE" comes from the top to form the logo, all while Jimmy Neutron and Goddard fly by in a rocket.
  • On Matchbox & Caterpillar: Adventures in Time, the URL "WWW.AWEGAMES.COM" is shown instead of "AWE Productions, Inc."

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A deep electronic tune.

Audio Variants:

  • On SpongeBob SquarePants: Employee of the Month, there is a bouncy tropical tune.
  • The still version is silent.
  • On The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron vs. Jimmy Negatron, an electronic beat with rocket whooshing noises is heard.

Availability: Can be seen on SpongeBob SquarePants: Employee of the Month and Matchbox & Caterpillar, among other titles for PC. Also seen on the demo for SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Krabby Patty (the full game itself uses a custom variant instead).

2nd Logo (SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Krabby Patty custom variant) (September 24, 2001)

Visuals: On a black background, Plankton (from SpongeBob SquarePants) reads a magazine. The magazine has a picture of Sandy (also from SpongeBob SquarePants) on the back cover. Plankton turns two pages, then gets surprised, turns the magazine sideways, and an insert with the company logo (but in the typical SpongeBob font in orange and red) and two sea creatures (similar to the ones from the episode "Rock Bottom") on it falls out of the magazine. The front cover of the book has the words "Bikini Bottom" on it. Plankton turns the insert sideways and it zooms in until it covers the whole screen.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: First, Plankton (voiced by Mr. Lawrence) says "Yes!". When Plankton turns a page, a page turn sound is heard and Plankton says "This stinks". When Plankton turns another page, another page turn sound is heard and Plankton says "What?!" A few page turn sounds are heard when the insert falls out. When the insert zooms in, Plankton laughs.

Availability: Only seen on SpongeBob SquarePants: Operation Krabby Patty.

3rd Logo (October 31, 2003-July 27, 2009)

Visuals: On a black background with an oval blue background in the middle, the text "AWE GAWES" wipes in from the left. Blue shining effects are shooting out of the letters. After it's done, "GAMES" turns gray and the text "AWE PRODUCTIONS, INC." fades in below. The logo then shuts off with a lightning effect.

Variant: On Cars: Radiator Springs Adventures, a car tire rolls through dirt ground, leaving a trail and the AWE Games logo in the center of the screen. The logo then transitions to its finished look in the main logo before vanishing.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Whooshes are heard throughout the logo. A lightning sound is heard when the logo shuts off.

Audio Variant: On the Cars: Radiator Springs Adventures variant, the sound of the tire screeching and whooshing is heard.

Availability: Can be seen on PC games such as Bratz: Rock Angelz, Cabbage Patch Kids: Where's My Pony?, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, Bratz: 4 Real, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom, The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, and SpongeBob SquarePants: Lights, Camera, Pants!.
