Blue Planet Software

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Background

Blue Planet Software is a video game company specializing in Tetris games. Although it may have been known that it uses the same abbreviation, the same founder and also a strong relation with Bullet-Proof Software, it actually is a separate company headquartered in Honolulu, Hawaii.

1st Logo (July 31, 1999-2001)

Note: One of the still versions can be seen here

Visuals: The background is full of a liberty blue color. A red/yellow gradient stylized "BPS" zooms into the screen, while the blue color zooms out, revealing it to be formed on a sphere. Once the logo is formed, "BLUE PLANET SOFTWARE" in blue fades above the logo.

Variant:

  • There are two still versions.
    • One of them just has the logo itself.
    • On The New Tetris for Nintendo 64, the logo is still, and is next to the H2O Entertainment logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Unknown. On The New Tetris, none. On Barbie: Team Gymnastics, there is Barbie talking about the game over the logo.

Availability: Seen on The Next Tetris for the PS1 and it's offshoots. A still version of this appears on The New Tetris for Nintendo 64 and Barbie: Team Gymnastics for PC.

2nd Logo (September 5, 2001-March 20, 2002)

Visuals: There is a blue sphere with purple dot patterns seen on it. It zooms in and spins. The "BPS" from before then wipes in via light, forming a green border. The logo then gets filled with red, and the blue "BLUE PLANET SOFTWARE" text (you can also see a purple outline) fades in above the logo.

Variant: On the GBA version of Tetris Worlds, the logo is on a space background, it's brighter, it's still and the "BLUE PLANET SOFTWARE" font is different and light blue.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Unknown.

Availability: Seen on Tetris Worlds for the PC and PS2. The variant is seen on the GBA version.
