Background

BBC Children's DVD was a sub-label of BBC Video created in 2006. At the time, all mainstream BBC releases were distributed through 2 Entertain while children's releases remained under BBC Worldwide distribution, so this label was created to fulfill this measure.

In 2010, the label was retired following the BBC's full purchase of 2 Entertain, which meant all BBC releases would be under the single 2 Entertain umbrella, including children's releases.

Logo (2007-2010)

Visuals: Just the 1997 BBC logo, followed by the word "Children's" and "DVD" in Gill Sans, fading in one by one. A sketchy circle is then drawn around the text.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A ruler flap/boing for the BBC blocks, a "Pop!" for Children's, a "Ping!" for "DVD", and then a scribble for the circular shape.

Availability: Appears at the beginning and end of various BBC-distributed children's content from the time.

  • It appeared on many DVDs of LazyTown, Charlie and Lola, In the Night Garden, Lunar Jim, 3rd and Bird, Tommy Zoom, Me Too!, The Secret Show, The Large Family, Dinosapien, Bobinogs, Animalia and various CBeebies compilations.
  • It also appeared on later Teletubbies, Balamory, Tweenies, Boogie Beebies DVDs.
  • Some earlier DVD releases from Late-2006 (eg, Zombie Hotel release "It's Alright, We Don't Bite!") have the print logo on the packaging, but use the 1997 BBC Video logo on-screen.
