Background

VIS Entertainment Limited (formerly known as VIS Interactive) was a British video game developer based in Edinburgh. Chris van der Kuyl and Peter Baillie established the company in 1996. In 2003, VIS Entertainment faced financial struggles and closed its studios in London and on the Isle of Wight, while downsizing its VIS iTV joint venture. After BAM! Entertainment acquired the studio in May 2004, VIS Entertainment was placed into administration April 2005, subsequently being liquidated and dissolved.

1st Logo (15 October 1998-24 May 2000)


Visuals: On a black background, there is a table with balls, then a silver ball falls down that has the letter "V" in orange. Then, the text "VIS Interactive plc" in Futura, appears below.

Variant: On Earthworm Jim 3D, there is a still, less detailed version of the logo. The VIS Interactive logo of the time, consist of a silver circle with dots, and the letter "V" containing lava inside.

Technique: None, unless you count the falling.

Audio: An ominous music piece, with a crashing sound when the ball falls down.

Audio Variant: On Earthworm Jim 3D, there's the opening theme to the game.

Availability: Only seen on H.E.D.Z. for the PC and Earthworm Jim 3D for the Nintendo 64 and PC.

2nd Logo (early 2000s?)


Visuals: On a black background, there is a circle with the letters "VIS" in a futuristic font and the text "VISUAL IMAGINATION SOFTWARE" in a narrow font below it. Also, the first letters of each word is larger.

Technique: Unknown.

Audio: Unknown.

Availability: Unknown. [Examples?] The only source of this logo comes from a hobbyDB listing of the company. It may have appeared on some of their releases, but it's currently unknown what its on-screen appearance looks like.

3rd Logo (2001-2005)


Visuals: On a black or cyan background, there is a circle with the letter V having the words "VIS" below it.

Technique: A still graphic.

Audio: None or the opening theme of the game.

Availability: Seen on most of their games from The Powerpuff Girls: Chemical X-Traction to their last game, Brave: The Search for Spirit Dancer.
