Background

Avalon Hill Game Company, often shortened as Avalon Hill, was a game company that publishes wargames and strategic board games. Founded in 1952, the company was located in Baltimore during its early years but moved to its current location in Renton, Washington at some point. In 1980, the company would establish a video game division under the name "Microcomputer Games". That division closed in 1992, and a new division was established under the simpler name of "Avalon Hill Game Company". The company's games didn't sell well, except for the Over the Reich franchise which was developed by Big Time Software. In 1998, Monarch sold Avalon Hill and its video game division to Hasbro, who put them under Hasbro Interactive.
