Ultra VCD

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st logo (1990s?-2000s)

Visuals: On a space background, we see 3 planets, Venus, Earth and Mars spinning. A UFO then appears, leaving behind 5 light balls, one yellow, two red, one purple and one green. They also omit light in the following colours: purple, red, green and purple. As the UFO flies away, a gold globe with fire patterns appear, zooming in and away to the front right, before zooming out as a still photo of a firework flies from left to right. A cobblestone cube with a gold outline appears as another image of a firework flies about, followed by a light flying from the top to the cube. It shines, and forms a "u", then another beam of light (now green) appears, shines and forms an "l", and a blue light appearing, shining and turning into a "t", then a pink light doing the same and forming an "r", which is then finished with a yellow light doing the same thing and forming an "a". The same gold globe then zooms into the cube, causing it to explode, and the letters come closer, forming "ultra". A red outline of the text zooms in as the text moves up on it =, followed by a blue outline of the text appearing and placing itself behind the text. A green-red-purple gradient rectangle slides from the side as "VIDEO COMPACT DISC" in yellow fades in, then flashes white for a brief second.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The sequence starts with a space synth, followed by a whoosh as the UFO appears, along with a quiet gurgling sound and some several whooshes, and a synth tune with a flute in it.

Availability: Seen on multiple Ultra-distributed VCDs such as the VCD release of Insaan Bana Shaitan.

2nd logo (2000s)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a silver line omitting purple light drawing itself. The camera then turns as the line continues drawing a shape. The text "ultra" in orange turns and zooms out, fitting itself in the shape. The logo then shines as the VCD logo zooms in, along with the inside of the shape filling with white. Then, some light appears on the logo. It then transitions into the warning screen.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An abridged version of "End Titles" from the movie Independence Day (which was composed by David Arnold), along with whooshes as the text zooms out, a gong as the logo shines, twinkling sounds as the VCD logo zooms in and 4 dings as each spot of light appears on the logo.

Availability: Seen on Indian VCDs of the time. [Examples?]
