Jay Ward Productions, Inc. (sometimes shortened to Ward Productions) is an American animation studio based in Los Angeles County, California. It was founded in 1948 by American animator Jay Ward, and was most notable for the Rocky and Bullwinkle and George of the Jungle franchises. They teamed up with Classic Media in 2007, becoming part of DreamWorks Animation upon their purchase of Classic Media in 2012. In 2022, they left DreamWorks to sign a distribution deal with WildBrain.
1st Logo (November 19, 1959-December 30, 1967)
Logo: On a black background we see a stylized capital "A" with "JAY WARD" and "PRODUCTION" beneath it. Two lines with 3 scribles between them are seen below the text. A cherub sketch with glasses is seen towards the left of the text with it's hand out. Copyright text is seen below in a black rectangle.
Variants: There are different variants:
- On Fractured Flickers, a cherub's wing is flying and the text and the sketch is moving left.
- On Hoppity Hooper, a cherub sketch with glasses from the said show, TBA.
- On George of the Jungle, just the white text that says "JAY WARD PRODUCTIONS, INC."
FX/SFX: None. On Fractured Flickers, a cherub's wing is flying and the text and the sketch is moving left.
Music/Sounds: Presumably the closing theme of the program.
Availability: Seen on shows produced by the company such as The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. Hopefully, this hasn't been plastered by the Classic Media logo on recent prints.
Editor's Note: TBA.
2nd Logo (October 9, 2015- )
Logo: On a white background, we see a close-up of Bullwinkle on the left with the words next to it "Jay Ward" in orange with red outline and "Productions, Inc." in red.
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: We hear the moose calling. On the revival of The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle, none.
Availability: Seen on the revival of The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show.
Editor's Note: TBA.
