Background

Marvel Studios Special Presentations are a series of television specials produced by Marvel Studios for Disney+, set within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), sharing continuity with the franchise's films and television series. The Marvel Studios Special Presentation banner was revealed alongside the announcement of the first television special, Werewolf by Night, in September 2022. The approximately hour-long specials are envisioned to provide a short look at new characters or concepts to the MCU. The Special Presentations are accompanied by a special fanfare and intro reminiscent of the CBS Special Presentation intro from the 1980s and 1990s.

Logo: Multicolored streaks of light fly across the screen. They then switch from left to right as the word "SPECIAL" (in a font similar to Haettenschweiler) zooms out, revealing the words "A MARVEL STUDIOS SPECIAL PRESENTATION" (with "Marvel Studios" in its original font while the rest of it is in an art-deco font). After it's completed, the whole thing zooms out.

Trivia: This logo references various special presentation bumpers for networks such as NBC, CBS, and ABC.

Variant: A 16:9 open matte version exists on The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Technique: CGI animation by PERCEPTION.

Music/Sounds:

  • A bongo-driven 70s styled fanfare, reminiscent of the CBS Special Presentation music, composed by Michael Giacchino. This was also the first track of the Werewolf by Night soundtrack, in which he also directed the special, entitled "A Marvel Special Presentation".
  • The variant uses a heroic fanfare that sounds like the normal fanfare, also composed by Michael Giacchino.

Availability: Seen before "Marvel Studios Special Presentations", including Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, which are both television specials made for Disney+.
