Background

Disney Fairies is a Disney franchise created in 2005. The franchise is built around the character of Tinker Bell from Disney's 1953 animated film Peter Pan, subsequently adopted as a mascot for the company. In addition to the fictional fairy character created by J. M. Barrie, the franchise introduces many new characters and expands substantially upon the limited information the author gave about the fairies and their home of Never Land. The characters are referred to within stories as "Never Land fairies." The franchise includes children's books and other merchandise, a website and the computer-animated Tinker Bell film series, featuring the character and several of the Disney fairies as supporting and recurring characters.

1st Bumper (October 28, 2008-September 21, 2010)

Visuals: On a black background, a stem comes by and branches off into 3 smaller ones, in which the longest forms a circle in the middle of the screen whereas the rightmost branch has a flower that blooms. The stem circle is then filled with a bluish white background as a green silhouette of Tinker Bell appears. A burst of pixie dust appears and the green text "Disney" in its corporate font fades in and the text "fairies" appears below it in a regular font.

Variants:

  • On Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, the stem turns brown and withers and the flower is replaced with a leaf that floats off the stem which is now a darker shade of green. The logo also fades into the opening scene.
  • On Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue, the logo is nearly the same but 3 flowers appear and immediately lose their petals and little berries grow in their place

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie with a sparkling sound for the pixie dust.

Availability: It debuted on Tinker Bell and can also be found on Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure and Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue.

2nd Bumper (November 19, 2011-December 12, 2014)

Visuals: On a green nature background (possibly the inside of a tree), there is a big green leaf. A CGI Tinker Bell (voiced by Mae Whitman) then appears from the bottom right corner of the screen and flies around the scene and even goes behind the leaf, where her shadow glows bright yellow. After a few seconds, Tinker Bell flings her arm at the leaf which, like the last logo, produces a burst of pixie dust that envelops the screen and turns Tinker Bell into a yellow silhouette over the leaf, which now has the corporate "Disney" text in white and the text "FAIRIES" in bigger letters in a whimsical font. The finished product is on a black background.

Technique: In-house CGI from DisneyToon Studios.

Audio: A whimsical fanfare with chimes and flutes, composed by Joel McNeely, who also composed the 2004 DisneyToon Studios logo

Availability: It first appeared on the TV special Pixie Hollow Games and last appeared on Tinker Bell and the Legend of the NeverBeast.
