Background

Disney Junior is a children's television block that premiered on February 14, 2011 on Disney Channel replacing Playhouse Disney. Since March 22, 2012, said block became the current 24-hour channel replacing SOAPnet on most providers. However, SOAPnet still survived on some providers as an "automated" network until its end on January 1, 2014.

(February 14, 2011-)

Logo: We see the Disney Junior logo (with the letters in the word, "Junior" with "i" in the Mickey Mouse suit and a Mickey Mouse head as the dot, in Futura Bold, bouncing in a few times and has "DiSNEY" in its corporate font above "Junior"), zooming out. After that, fireworks fly behind the logo.

Trivia: The fireworks are likely inspired by those of the 2006 Walt Disney Pictures logo and The Wonderful World of Disney intros.

Variants:

  • On some newer prints of Little Einsteins episodes (namely "The Incredible Shrinking Adventure"), the 2001 Playhouse Disney Channel logo is seen: this is most likely a reverse plastering job.
  • On one 2013 episode and some 2011 episodes of Art Attack, a copyright notice appears under the logo.
  • On some newer prints of episodes of Out of the Box, the 2001 Playhouse Disney Channel logo is seen: this is also a reverse plastering job.
  • A short version exists.
  • On Marvel's Spidey and His Amazing Friends, the logo is superimposed, with the animation intact, and there are no fireworks.
  • On CITV airings of various Disney Junior original shows, the word "PRODUCTION" fades in at the bottom.
    • A still variant of this exists with the word "PRODUCTION" in sky blue.
  • In the UK, this logo was used as a looping sign off. The words "THE MAGIC RETURNS AT 6am" appear at the bottom.

Technique: CGI animation, done by We Are Royale in Los Angeles, CA. The animation was created using Cinema 4D, Photoshop and Illustrator.

Music/Sounds: A four note orchestrated tune (which is Disney Junior's signature jingle) composed by David Norland. Sometimes, the end theme plays over it or it is silent. On some shows, the theme is re-arranged with the sounds of the fireworks exploding.

Music/Sounds Variants:

  • On a DisneyNOW print of Imagination Movers, this logo has the music of the 2007 Playhouse Disney Originals logo: this is most likely a plastering error.
  • The UK's looping sign off uses no music, and the sounds are fireworks exploding and crowds cheering and talking.
  • On Disney+'s prints of Little Einsteins, the French audio track of this logo has the music of the 2002 Playhouse Disney Originals logo: this is also a plastering error, while the English and Latin American Spanish tracks use the correct Disney Junior theme.

Availability: Common.

  • This logo appears on new programs such as Jake and the Never Land Pirates, and Sofia The First.
  • It also appears on new prints of shows that were on Playhouse Disney such as Handy Manny, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Little Einsteins, Stanley, Rolie Polie Olie, The Book of Pooh, JoJo's Circus, The Koala Brothers, Higglytown Heroes, Out of the Box and Special Agent Oso, plastering the Playhouse Disney Originals logo, which was originally seen on pre-2011 episodes of said shows.
  • It can also be seen on Prime Video prints of the third season of Timmy Time.
  • Weirdly enough, despite having never aired before on the Disney Junior channel, plastering the 2002 and 2007 Disney Channel Original logos, this logo can now be seen on new, HD-remastered Disney XD reruns of Lilo & Stitch: The Series.
  • The CITV variant is extinct: it was only seen on airings of Disney Junior shows on Mini CITV, which was CITV's preschool block.
  • Even though the Mickey Mouse head style was changed in 2020, this logo is still used.
  • Some international prints delete the logo.
