Background

WHRO is a PBS affiliate located in Hampton/Norfolk, Virginia.

1st ID (1987-1989?)

Visuals: Set on a sunset background over a lake, we see the company logo, consisting of the bold white-yellow gradient letters WHRO, with the tail of the R wrapping around the letters to form an oval, rise from the water. Below, the text "HAMPTON ROADS, VIRGINIA" in yellow with a shadow slides up from the bottom of the screen.

Technique: Scanimate.

Audio: A high-pitched 4-note synth sound.

2nd ID (1989?-1994?)

Visuals: On a blue/black gradient background, there are the words "WHRO" in an odd futuristic font, with the "R" connecting with the number "15" sitting next to the letters. All those letters are in chrome. The words "HAMPTON/NORFOLK" are chyroned in above. Below, a white ribbon brings forth a red ribbon reading "TV Worth Watching" in a cursive font.

Technique: Analog computer animation.

Audio: Essentially a localized version of the tail end of the 1987 "TV Worth Watching" jingle: a female voice singing "WHRO", then a saxophone stinger.

Availability: Only used as a "you're watching" local ID.
