Televisão Pública de Angola

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

1st Logo (October 18, 1975-1983)

Visuals: On a black background, there is an outlined map of Angola which contains a white "TPA" in a lined format, along with "TELEVISÃO" underneath. The screen then zooms in towards the text.

Technique: Camera controlled animation.

Audio: A tribal drum theme.

2nd Logo (Late 1980s-1990)

Visuals: The first element shown is live action footage of a shore against a sunset. A spinning blue ball containing a silver "TPA" in the same format as before then emerges from the sun and them zooms towards the camera until it gets considerably close to the camera.

Variant: A closedown ident exists where the ball zooms away from us against a different shore footage.

Technique: Practical effects.

Audio: A slow-paced, dramatic fanfare. The closedown ident uses a fast, arpeggiating synth which slows down as the ball disappears.

3rd Logo (1990-1997)

Visuals: On a space background with blue stars, there is a spiral with a blue star in front of it. Several comets arranged in a circle zoom out of it and rotate in a circular motion, while the "TPA" logo zooms in from the star.

Technique: CGI.

Audio:

  • A harp strum which transitions into a reggae-esque tune ending with a chorus singing the company name.
  • Sometimes, the logo is silent.

Availability: It was seen on the start up of TPA during the time.
