Background

IFC Midnight is a label of IFC Films that largely releases the company's horror and thriller output, although the company occasionally releases films outside of those genres. Before late 2013, films from the label used the IFC Films logo.

1st Logo (November 22, 2013-May 14, 2021)

Visuals: On a black background, the 2001 IFC logo appears letter-by-letter. While that happens, a close-up of the letters appears for a split second along with a grainy texture background. The word "MIDNIGHT" fades in below the logo. A red line on the right continuously flashes throughout.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A film projector sound along with a 3-note tune that sounds eerie.

Availability: Seen on the division's films of the time, including the 2016 remake of Cabin Fever.

2nd Logo (July 23, 2021-)

Visuals: Same as the 2020 IFC Films logo, but the entire logo is red, and "Films" is replaced with "Midnight". A drop of blood runs from the M. At the end of the logo, it jitters.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: Same as before.

Availability: Seen on current films from the division, such as Hatching.
