Background

Circle of Confusion is a film and television production company founded in 2002. Their best known project is The Walking Dead.

1st Logo (June 10, 2009)

Visuals: On a space background, "CIRCLE OF CONFUSION" flies and zooms towards the screen, stopping and briefly shaking the screen. Then a red planet rapidly zooms in and causes a greater shake than before. A white ring is then drawn and dims.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Only seen on Saint John of Las Vegas.

2nd Logo (October 31, 2010-March 29, 2015)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a red-black gradient circle and a red ring mostly overlapping each another. The text "CIRCLE OF CONFUSION" appears on top of them.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on the first five seasons of The Walking Dead.

3rd Logo (March 10, 2015-)

Visuals: On a dark space background, there is a red light burst in the center and a ring floating towards the right. As the ring passes the light, the latter focuses and becomes a gradient red ball. The ring reflects afterwards and the two objects zoom out where the text from before in white fades in. Lastly, an orange spark flies within the top half of the logo.

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the logo is still.
  • A shortened variant exists.
  • It sometimes shares the screen with other logos.
  • On Ride starting with "Estella", the logo is on a black background and the circle appears slightly different with a shadow underneath.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: None or the ending theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on Powers, later seasons of The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead since season 2, Locke & Key, and Ride, among others.

4th Logo (August 23, 2015-April 3, 2016)

Visuals: On a white background, the circle and the ring are shown but with the latter in black. The text "circle of confusion" is shown but with "of" in white.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the show.

Availability: As a variant of the previous logo, this was seen on the first and sixth season of Fear the Walking Dead and The Walking Dead respectively.
