Background

Active Entertainment is a production company founded in 1993, headquartered in Victorville, CA. They used to produce animated series with Abrams Gentile Entertainment, but now make low-budget TV movies for Syfy.

1st Logo (September 9, 1995-May 26, 1997)

Visuals: On a black background, a sky blue globe with black gridlines is seen rotating clockwise, tilted at an angle as a purple swoop encircles the bottom portion of the globe. Below the globe is a silver line covered by it, and the text below as shown in a silver/purple mix:

ACTIVE
ENTERTAINMENT

Variants:

  • Sometimes, the logo fades rather than cuts.
  • On Jellybean Jungle, an extended version is used. Here, the line swirls in from the left while the swoop rotates into place from behind the globe. A descending metallic swirling is heard on top of the music.
    • An even longer version appears on The Monster Mash, where the logo starts with the globe larger than usual taking up the whole screen, as a stretched "ACTIVE" scrolls across the screen. The globe then zooms out as the company name zooms out and pans into position, as an arc made of 6 metallic yellow stars encircles it, and the logo animation continues as normal (unknown at the time, as the only known footage of this has it cut off at the end).

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A high-pitched synth drone, or none.

Audio/Variant: The long version uses nn extended version of the music, with an added whoosh for the text scrolling, and harp strings heard as well.

Availability:

  • Seen on Sky Dancers, Dragon Flyz, and Happy Ness: Secret of the Loch, as well as the Bruno the Kid: The Animated Movie VHS.
  • It precedes the Film Roman logo on some international prints of Bruno the Kid; some episodes on Tubi feature this combo.

2nd Logo (2004-)

Visuals: On a black background, a white light wipes in the silver text "ACTIVE" from left to right, designed to resemble the old Orion Pictures logo, complete with the line cut through the top. The entire thing also has a bevel effect to it. Below, "ENTERTAINMENT" in white fades in below in a slightly spaced-out font.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The beginning of the film.

Availability: Can be found on any of Syfy's TV movies produced by them, as well as any collaboration DVDs their films are on.
