Background

Lantern Entertainment is an independent film and television studio, founded on July 16, 2018 in Dallas, Texas by Andy Mitchell and Milos Brajovic, and owned by Lantern Capital Partners. They are the current owners of The Weinstein Company's assets, as it was bought in a bankruptcy auction following its collapse. In February 2019, it was reported that the company would be reaching a settlement with The Walt Disney Company, regarding several films that Lantern did not obtain. On March 13, 2019, the company and Gary Barber revived Spyglass Media Group, which will host the former The Weinstein Company library.

Logo (December 21, 2018-)

Visuals: A gold flash appears and the camera zooms out to reveal a glowing box over a river. The camera turns as the rectangle glows even more and then pans across, as we see the rectangle is a stylized "LE" (similar to the Eric Lieber Productions logo), with the stacked text "LANTERN ENTERTAINMENT" underneath it.

Variant: A short version exists where the logo is glowing.

Technique: CGI by Antenna Creative, who also designed the logo for Amazon Studios. You can look at plenty of concept art and unused drafts here.

Audio: A five-note piano theme (with a gap between the first two) and a swirling ambient section, combined with ocean wave sounds. The theme was composed by Philippe Pierre.

Availability:

  • First spotted on Disney Channel and Freeform broadcasts of Paddington, preceding the TWC-Dimension logo.
  • It is currently seen at the start of newer prints of TWC movies, sometimes before the aforementioned company's logo.
  • This also appears on The Upside, a Weinstein holdover.
  • A short version was seen on season 17 of Project Runway.
