Background

HIT Movies was an American film production company based in Los Angeles, California and owned by HIT Entertainment. It was formed in March 2009 to produce theatrical film adaptations of HIT Entertainment's franchises, the first being a live-action movie adaptation of Thomas & Friends, titled The Adventures of Thomas, which was planned to be released in 2012. HIT Movies and all their film productions were later closed and cancelled after HIT Entertainment was purchased by Mattel. In 2018, Mattel relaunched its Playground Productions division as Mattel Films to produce film adaptations of its properties, including those from HIT Entertainment such as Thomas & Friends, Barney, and Bob the Builder.

Logo (2010)

Visuals: The sequence starts off as the lens of a camera shining on a slightly-noticeable black background. Then, a light covers the screen to reveal that the camera looks like the 2007 HIT Entertainment logo in black and white, spinning on a green background. The background turns back to black and the white frame appears with the text "MOVIES" in black.

Variants:

  • Shortened and sped-up versions exist.
  • On The Adventures of Thomas Rip-o-Matic trailer (after the normal logo), the logo is still and the frame is rectangular instead of a curvy shape.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: A majestic fanfare composed by John Powell, accompanied by film projector noises and whoosh sounds. Sometimes, the trailer's opening theme is used.

Audio Trivia: This fanfare was actually titled "Into Whoville / Breakfast With The Mayor" from the 2008 film Horton Hears a Who!, which was also composed by Powell.

Availability: Seen on The Adventures of Thomas Rip-o-Matic trailer (along with a 13-second trailer of the film), as well as the Rip-o-Matic trailers of the 2012 Bob the Builder live-action film and the 2012 Barney live-action film, all of which were cancelled as mentioned above.
