Background

Mattel, Inc. is an American multinational toy manufacturing and entertainment company founded in January 1945 and headquartered in El Segundo, California. Their lines of products include the famed Barbie and Hot Wheels franchises. It is the world's second largest toy maker in terms of revenue, after The Lego Group.



1st Logo (2001-2003, Latin America)

Visuals: Over a colored background, different depending on the type of the commercial is the Mattel logo spinning into view with the text "Dedicados a hacerte feliz." behind it. The Mattel logo then appears again, shrunken, in the style of a karaoke "bouncing ball" animation, with each section of the slogan lighting up whenever the Mattel logo touches them. The Mattel logo then grows as the slogan moves roughly into the bottom.

Variants:

  • On girls' toys commercials, the background is pink with a flower pattern. A green background was also used.
  • On boys' toys commercials, a blue background with an abstract pattern is used.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio:

  • Girls Variant: A group of girls saying "Mattel!", followed by a group of women singing "Dedicados a hacerte feliz!" over a pop beat.
  • Boys Variant: A guitar rock theme with a male voice singing "Mattel! Dedicados a hacerte feliz!".

Availability: It was seen on few Latin American Mattel commercials from the time period, although most of them didn't feature this logo.

2nd Logo (2003-2006, Latin America)

Visuals: There is a colored background made up of shapes. The Mattel logo on a white square appears moving out from the right and crashes into the background, as most the shapes fall down. The slogan "Dedicados a hacerte feliz." is revealed below the logo. A light then briefly passes behind the text.

Variants:

  • On girls' toys commercials, a pink background with flower shapes is used.
  • On boys' toys commercials, a blue background with puzzle-style pieces is used.

Technique: 3D animation.

Audio:

  • Girls Variant: A group of women singing "Dedicados a hacerte feliz!" over a disco-style beat, followed by the group of girls saying "Mattel!".
  • Boys Variant: The rock theme from before.

Availability: It was seen on few Latin American Mattel commercials from the time period, although most of them didn't feature this logo.

3rd Logo (2007-2008, Latin America)

Visuals: Over a white background is photographs of numerous children wearing red and white clothes zooming out. The photographs gradually increase in amount as the screen zooms out further and it's revealed the pictures form a larger Mattel logo. The slogan "Dedicados a hacerte feliz." slides in below in a circular fashion and the registered mark fades in.

Technique: Computer animation.

Audio: A different rock theme with a group of kids singing "Dedicados a hacerte feliz! Mattel!".

Availability: It was seen on few Latin American Mattel commercials from the time period, although most of them didn't feature this logo.
