Hasbro

Background

Hasbro is an American multinational conglomerate founded by three Polish-Jewish brothers, Herman, Hillel, and Henry Hassenfeld. It has toy, board game, and media assets, headquartered in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. Hasbro owns the trademarks and products of Kenner, Parker Brothers, and Milton Bradley, among others. Hasbro is incorporated in Rhode Island, and as of August 2020 over 81.5% of its shares were held by large financial institutions.

Among its products are Transformers, G.I. Joe, Power Rangers, Rom the Space Knight, Micronauts, M.A.S.K., Monopoly, Furby, Nerf, Twister, Peppa Pig and My Little Pony. The Hasbro brand also spawned TV shows to promote its products, such as Family Game Night on the Discovery Family network, a joint venture with Warner Bros. Discovery. It is also the former parent of mass media and entertainment company Entertainment One. However, it was announced on August 3, 2023 that Hasbro will sell eOne (excluding its Family Brands division, which was integrated into Hasbro) to Lionsgate, subject to regulatory approval. The deal closed on December 27, 2023.

1st Logo (September 12, 1983-November 11, 1987)

Visuals: On a purple background, there is a yellow square with an "H" inside it. Inside the "H" seems to be a yellow house outline with a yellow silhouette of a boy and a girl standing in both left and right directions in it. Below the "H" is the word "HASBRO" in a futuristic font.

Variants:

• On most shows, the logo appears superimposed in the credits with a blue tint.
• The in-credit text "Hasbro, Inc." may also appear.

Audio: None or the closing theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on Transformers: The Animated Series, My Little Pony, and G.I. Joe. The purple-yellow version was seen as a sponsor bumper in the 1980s.

2nd Logo (1993-1998)

Visuals: On gray or blue background, there is a green square with the word "HASBRO" in Futura in it.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: None or the opening theme of the game.

Availability: Seen on PC games made by Hasbro.

3rd Logo (March 22, 2000-2009)

Visuals: On a white square, another green square is tilted a bit, having the Hasbro logo written upon it. The logo uses a custom font, particularly the "H" letter has a tail, and a smiling mouth-like figure is seen below the word.

Variants:

• "Licensed by" may be shown above. It would also have "Properties Group" in two lines below the logo.
• There exist blue background variants for this logo on video games.
• On Transformers: Autobots for Nintendo DS, the logo is red.
• On Transformers: Decepticons, as well as on Revenge of the Fallen for Nintendo DS, the logo is black and white.
• On Transformers: Animated, the logo is on a gray background.
• On Treehouse TV airings of It’s Itsy Bitsy Time, the logo is on a white background and lacks the white square behind it. “Making the World Smile!™” is below the logo in the same green colour as the logo.
• The logo shares the screen with the Playskool logo on Weebles.

Availability: Appears on casual games for PC based on Hasbro franchises, such as Risk, Yahtzee, Tonka, Monopoly, Scrabble, The Game of Life, and others.

• It also appears on Transformers games for Nintendo DS.
• The white background version appeared on Micro Machines for Nintendo DS.
• It was also seen on It’s Itsy Bitsy Time, on Treehouse TV, Transformers: Animated and Weebles.

4th Logo (2004-2009)

Visuals: On a black background, several overlapping shapes in varying colors of green, blue and purple are enclosed in a thin white box. The "Hasbro" text and smile from the previous logo are in a teal oval. The word "ENTERTAINMENT" is below, enclosed by two more white lines. Parts of the shapes extend into the area where "ENTERTAINMENT" is. The shapes also rotate a bit.

Variants:

• Still versions exist.
• A variant with a copyright stamp also exists.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A simple twinkle or silence.

Availability: Seen on the Weebles TV series.

• It also appears on several Paramount-distributed releases such as DVD releases of Transformers: Energon, among others.

6th Logo (September 22, 2008-May 22, 2009)

Visuals: The same design as before, but there's no shield at all. Instead, the logo hangs over a blue space-like surface and zooms out.

Variants:

• There is a long version where the light moves on the logo's inner structure, then it turns.
• There's also an extended version where the logo's inner structure shows footage of various Hasbro properties, such as Mr. Potato Head, Yahtzee, The Game of Life, Monopoly, Play-Doh, Littlest Pet Shop, My Little Pony, Magic: The Gathering, Transformers, and G.I. Joe.

Audio: A five-note xylophone jingle with a synthesized drone sound.

Audio Variant:

• Littlest Pet Shop for Wii used an uplifting string theme. None for the Nintendo DS version.
• The extended version had a rendition of the first music with a somber note; followed by the uplifting string music.

Availability: Appears on Littlest Pet Shop on the Wii and DS.

• The animated version was used on the short-lived game show Trivial Pursuit: America Plays and appears on Monopoly and Hasbro Family Game Night for Wii.
• The long version was seen on Nerf N-Strike.

7th Logo (2008-)

Visuals: An enhanced version of the 3rd logo. It uses a gradient blue shield, and the text is given a 3D-ish look.

Audio: None or the closing theme of the show.

Availability:

• Appears on G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, Hasbro Family Game Night, Battleship, and Scrabble, all for Nintendo DS.
• It also appears on Family Game Night 4 and Care Bears: Welcome to Care-a-Lot.
• It can also be seen at the end of season 2 episodes of Strawberry Shortcake's Berry Bitty Adventures.

8th Logo (April 17, 2009-2013)

Visuals: Somewhere in space, the screen zooms into a spinning zoetrope, moving inside it. The arc tail of the "H" letter is shown, as light particles run over it. The logo zooms out, viewed from various direction, with the light effects proceeding to other letters. Then the zoetrope's movement stops and we have only the logo hanging on a space background and zooming out.

Variants:

• On Nerf N-Strike Elite, the logo plays faster.
• On G.I. Joe: Resolute, Hasbro Family Game Night 3, and Monopoly Streets, the logo is shortened.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A majestic sci-fi-like orchestra fanfare with horns, brass, and drums, ascending to the second half of the sequence. Composed by Steve Jablonsky.

Audio Variant: On G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Battleship, the opening theme of the movie is heard.

Availability: Appears on the films G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra and Battleship as well as their respective video game adaptations (except for the Nintendo DS versions).

• It also appears on the games Transformers: War for Cybertron, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Transformers: Cybertron Adventures, Monopoly Streets, Nerf N-Strike Elite, Hasbro Family Game Night 3, and Littlest Pet Shop (2nd and 3rd editions) for Wii.

9th Logo (March 28, 2013)

Visuals: The camera moves backwards on a dark "Hasbro" text that has blue lights on it. Then, it moves to face the camera and becomes lighter.

Availability: Only seen on G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

10th Logo (June 9, 2023-)

Visuals: There is the Hasbro square logo rotated and zoomed up slightly, while blue lens flares shine on it. The logo then zooms back onto a blue spotlight background with a shadow casting behind it, while some lights appear surrounding it. The camera zooms out as the logo shines.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: It debuted on Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, this was also used at the end of the short sizzle reel on Hasbro's corporate website.
