Background

Fireworks Pictures was the film division of Fireworks Entertainment. It was formed in 2000 after CanWest rebranded Seven Arts International, and was located in Los Angeles, California. In 2005, the company was absorbed into ContentFilm, after they acquired Fireworks Entertainment.

1st Logo (August 17, 2001-2003)


Visuals: At sunset, with blue clouds moving in the evening sky, there is a boy sitting on a nearby roof near the right side of the screen. Then, fireworks start shooting up far away, and the screen zooms into the action. The fireworks continue shooting before transforming into a gold version of the standard Fireworks logo. "FIREWORKS" appears underlined below, with a CanWest byline underneath.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: Starts out with some outdoor ambient sounds, before moving onto firework sounds like those heard on the TV logo.

Availability: It was seen on movies like Interstate 60, Hardball, Rat Race and Coronado.

2nd Logo (August 24, 2001)


Visuals: Against some rocky mountains is fireworks shoot up in the sky above. Like before, they eventually transform into the Fireworks logo in gold, now positioned above the mountains. "FIREWORKS PICTURES" fades in below, with a CanWest byline fading in underneath.

Variants:

  • A still variant exists, mainly used on trailers.
  • On a trailer for Rat Race, the logo slides away to the left.
  • On the trailer for Hardball, the logo tilts at a 90-degree angle.

Technique: CGI animation.

Audio: The fireworks popping and whistling, ending with the same sound effects from the TV logo, albeit extended.

Availability: The full version was only seen on An American Rhapsody. The still variant was seen on some trailers for Fireworks films.
