The Zanuck Company

Background

This is the production company of Richard D. Zanuck, his wife Lili Fini Zanuck, and at one point, Jerry Perenchio.

Logo (December 15, 1989-December 17, 2008)

Visuals: On a black background, a red "Z" is drawn stroke-by-stroke. As the last stroke is drawn, the text "T H E Z A N U C K C O M P A N Y" wipes in along with it.

Variant: At the end of Yes Man, the logo is still.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: A whoosh followed by a synth chord ending with some bells. This was composed by Hans Zimmer. None for the still version.

Availability: The Zanuck Company did not use a logo for most of its releases (for instance, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory doesn't use this logo at all), but this is known to appear on Driving Miss Daisy, Rush, and Mulholland Falls, among a few others.
