Background

The Safran Company is an American film and television production company founded by Peter Safran in 2006.

1st Logo (January 28, 2011-January 23, 2015)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a large stylised "TSC", with "THE SAFRAN COMPANY" connected below in a rectangle, rotating outward. A blue flash is seen briefly at first, but then dies down as the animation progresses. As it zooms out to its position, the logo turns metallic as there are some brief faint shines and then turns static before fading out.

Variants:

  • A still print version exists.
  • On some films such as The Atticus Institute, the company name doesn't appear.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The opening theme of the film, coupled with a brief ding when the flash is shown.

Availability: Seen on films from the era such as Flypaper, ATM, Vehicle 19, among others. This however, doesn't appear on Within, Flatliners or any of The Conjuring films. It remained as a print logo on promotional material after the logo's retirement such as The Choice.

2nd Logo (September 7, 2018-)


Visuals:

  • Horror: The screen fades into a black background with what appears to be half of a crescent moon appearing as white lines fade onto it. They turn as a gray line appears in, causing the lines to become 3D (making it somewhat look like a face) as half of a maroon triangle is wiped in at the top-right corner; and a woman and a man with a fedora in silhouette appear on the lines. The woman then points out at him, causing him to fall as the "face" adds a teardrop as the camera quickly zooms in and follows to show that there are multiple copies of the man, rotating on a red turning-like thing with a gray funnel at the bottom-right. The camera then quickly goes to show more of the funnel as some silhouettes drop into it, then the camera pans down further as a red circle is created as some teardrops (resembling that of blood drops) forms "TSC" wiping inside the circle as the funnel disappears, completing the animation.
  • Action/Drama: Starts the same as the Horror variant, but the background is dirty white and the lines are red. A man and a woman are standing on the lines now, and when the lines tilt, the man punches the woman and she falls off, while the "face" turns into a film reel. Then the camera pans down to see several comic book panels such as a caped superhero (likely to resemble Superman) and a figure wearing a hat in silhouette (likely to resemble Indiana Jones or Sherlock Holmes), a cowboy riding a horse, a couple kissing, and a motorcycle chasing a car. The woman lands in the bottom panel and stands up and then the camera pans leftward to reveal "TSC" in a circle, this time in light gray.

Trivia: The logo is based on early 20th-century art and with 1960s film design, to create a timeless look and feel.

Variants:

  • Two prototype versions of the Horror variant exist:
    • One has "TSC" arranged in a different font in a diamond shape. This variant only exists online as a series of stills.
    • The other is nearly the same as the final version but the circle outline is unbroken.
  • Two still variants exist:
    • The first is a still shot of the beginning of the Action variant, with the company name in full stacked at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
    • The second is the final product of the Horror variant, with the full company name in red below.
  • On The Nun II, the Horror variant is tinted in a darker shade of gray. Also, the finished product looks similar to the Action variant.

Audio: A creepy horror note for the Horror variant, or an adventurous theme for the Action variant. Otherwise, it's silent or uses the opening/closing theme from any movie or TV show.
