Background

Syncopy is the production company of Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas. It was founded in 2005, but no logo was used until 2008. Most of its films are distributed through Warner Bros. Pictures. The company is named after the term "syncopation" (a variety of rhythms played together to make a piece of music). It was suggested to Nolan by his father Brendan, a classical music fan.

Logo (July 18, 2008-)

Visuals: Over a black background, a box appears with a labyrinth carved inside, with two exits breaking the box outline. The word "S Y N C O P Y" emerges from the depths of the box. The whole logo has a few barely visible stripes, as if it was ripped from a VHS.

  • The Dark Knight, Inception and Oppenheimer have the logo in a gray color.
  • The Dark Knight Rises has the logo in a blue-gray color.
  • Man of Steel has the logo in a brownish-grey color. This version appears inside a tunnel, which fades to black.
  • Dunkirk has the logo in a cyan color.
  • Interstellar has the logo in a sepia tone (as with the movie's other logos).
  • Tenet has the logo in a blue color.
  • A trailer for Oppenheimer has the logo glitch.

Technique: CGI by Kelly Carlton at Intralink Film Graphic Design.

Audio: None or the opening theme of the film.
