Background

Sid & Marty Krofft Pictures was the production company of Sid Krofft (b. July 30, 1929) and Marty Krofft (b. April 9, 1937), a Canadian sibling duo of puppeteers, writers, and television creators. The company produced numerous children's television and variety show programs in the United States, particularly in the 1970s and early 1980s, some examples including H.R. Pufnstuf, Land of the Lost, The Bugaloos, Sigmund and the Sea Monsters, and Lidsville. The style of their fantasy programs are known for often featuring large-headed puppets, high-concept plots, and their extensive use of low-budget special effects. The Krofft brothers continued to work together until Marty's death in 2023.

1st Logo (September 26, 1987-1988, June 5, 2009, July 10, 2015-November 1, 2017)

Visuals: Same as the Sid & Marty Krofft Television Productions logo, but the text now reads "SID & MARTY KROFFT PICTURES", with "PICTURES" styled after "PRODUCTIONS". This also creates an uneven floor as well. The colors are slightly rearranged and are also far more saturated, with the green replaced with gold, "PICTURES" being more yellowish, and the "O"'s hole in "KROFFT" now gold as well.

Variants:

  • On the 2009 Land of the Lost film, the logo is in a box in the center of the screen on a black background. The colors are also less saturated.
  • Starting with Mutt and Stuff, the logo is animated like the Television Productions logo, but closer to the screen. It also uses revamped colors.

Technique:

  • 1987-1988, 2009: A printed card filmed by a camera.
  • 2015-2017: 2D computer animation.

Audio:

  • September 26, 1987-1988: The 1984 music variant of the Television Productions logo.
  • June 5, 2009: None.
  • July 10, 2015-November 1, 2017: The original music variant of the Television Productions logo.

Availability: Originally appeared on early episodes of D.C. Follies, it was revived in 2009 for the film adaptation of Land of the Lost and again in 2015 for Nick Jr.'s Mutt and Stuff. Also appeared on the 2016 reboots of both Electra Woman and Dyna Girl and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters.

2nd Logo (1988-September 1, 1989, July 25, 1995)

Visuals: An "O" spins out into the center of the screen. As it reaches the center, a psychedelic vortex explodes out from behind it and engulfs the background. The letters "K", "R", "F", "F", and "T" quickly fly around the "O", creating the word "KROFFT" in its classic weird font. The rest of the logo then joins it, "SID & MARTY" from the top, and "PICTURES" from the bottom.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The 1984 music from the Television Productions logo.

Audio/Variant: A version exists featuring a synth harp with chimes.

Availability: Seen on later episodes of D.C. Follies. Also seen on I Wish I Was a Ballerina.

3rd Logo (2019)

Visuals: On a paper-like background, the Sid and Marty Krofft Pictures logo is seen in black. Then, the background is colored with the colors blue, yellow, pink, red, lime, and blue again, making the logo turn white.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A simple 4-note synth tune, with a suction cup-like sound on the third note and a "pop" on the last note.

Availability: Seen at the end of their 2019 Comic-Con panel with Sid Krofft. This can be seen on their official YouTube channel.
