Background

Harpodeon is a film distributor founded in 2008 that specializes in silent films, particularly rare, unusual, and niche films. The company name comes from an amalgamation of Harpocrates, the Greco-Egyptian god of silence, and Odeon.

Logo (2008-)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a statue of a head against a dim burst behind and the fancy words "HARPODEON" underneath, stylized to resemble something out of the Roaring Twenties.

Variant: A later version of this logo has the logo zoomed out.

Technique: Digital computer graphics.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Can be seen on recent DVDs of many films from the 1910s and 1920s, which can be purchased on their website. The films they have distributed usually come from Vitagraph Studios, Pathé, Kalem Company, and many more.
