Background

Baltimore Pictures is the production company of filmmaker Barry Levinson. It is named after the city in which Levinson was born: Baltimore, Maryland.

Logo (October 19, 1990-May 21, 1999)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a circle (left half blue or white, right half black) with a stylized "B" inside of it. Below is the name "BALTIMORE PICTURES" in a Revival font.

Variants:

  • On Homicide: Life on the Street, the logo is colored teal and placed on a white background.
  • On Bugsy, the logo scrolls up with the credits side-by-side with the Mulholland Productions logo.
  • On the Homicide portion of the 1994 prototype reel of NBC's split-screen credits (known as "NBC 2000"), "BALTIMORE" and "PICTURES" are stacked on top of each other to fit inside. Also, the text "PRODUCED FOR NBC BY..." is placed above the logo and "IN ASSOCIATION WITH" is placed below.

Technique: A digital graphic.

Audio: The closing theme of the movie/show or the generic theme on NBC starting in 1994 due to split screen credits.

Availability: Appeared at the end of Avalon, Kafka, Bugsy, Jimmy Hollywood, Sleepers, and Sphere. It also appeared on the series Homicide: Life on the Street on it's DVD release.
