Background

Regent Releasing (formerly Regent Entertainment) was a film distributor and earlier a television production company founded by Paul Colichman (former head of IRS Releasing) and Stephen P. Jarchow in the mid-1990s. In 2009, the company was merged with Here Networks to form Here Media.

Regent Entertainment

1st Logo (1996-April 27, 2000)

Visuals: On a white background, the shiny black 3D text "REGENT" slowly pans out. After doing so, the text "ENTERTAINMENT" fades in underneath.

Variants:

  • A still version exists, where the logo is on a metallic background, the logo has large shadows coming behind it, and it is being shown by a spotlight.
  • A closing print variation also exists.

Technique: The letters arrange themselves. None for the variant. [possible misuse]

Audio: A short flute/string tune with a glockenspiel that turns into an orchestral fanfare, none, or the closing theme.

Availability:

  • Appears on some prints of I'll Remember April (most use the 2nd logo) and on The Crimson Code/Red Team, as well as other TV movies and films of the time.
  • The closing print version was used until 2000.

2nd Logo (April 5, 1999-November 2000)

Visuals: There is the logo revealed, starting from the sword. The name shines when fading in, with "REGENT" now in yellow and all other logo blue. The figure also possesses certain glow effect.

Technique: The logo reveals itself and shines. [possible misuse]

Audio: A quiet string theme.

Audio Variant: On newer prints of I'll Remember April, it uses the 4th logo's music.

Availability: It appears on I'll Remember April.

3rd Logo (June 4, 1999-March 15, 2001)

Visuals: On a blue-gray background, there is a stylized blue man with a sword, shaped like letter "R". The company name is seen below in black.

Technique: None. [possible misuse]

Audio: Either a short breezy synth tune or the closing theme of the movie.

Availability: Appears on Free Enterprise and Britannic.

4th Logo (December 14, 2000-2009)

Visuals: On a black background, there's a metallic strip coming to the screen while shining. The camera turns right and zooms out to reveal the same knight symbol from before, now placed on a white, upside-down triangle with lines. As the logo zooms, the knight gets colored with a reflection of a blue cloudy sky, while the same text from before with "ENTERTAINMENT" in blue zooms out below and shines. Once the logo is completed, the website wipes in below.

Variant: Sometimes, the Regent Releasing logo mixes with this pattern.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A deep swish sound followed by a deep synth tune.

Audio Variant: A low tone variant of the theme exists, which is heard on Cave In and Terror Peak.

Availability:

  • Can be found on older Christmas movies aired on Lifetime.
  • It also appears on most Here! made-for-TV movies, and preserved on DVD releases of Regent Entertainment films of the time period, with Nuclear Hurricane, The Delphi Effect, Force of Impact, Phantom Below, Total Eclipse, Solar Destruction, and Snowman's Pass being some of the movies to have this logo.

Regent Releasing

Logo (Late 2000s-2009)

Visuals: The camera zoom to reveal a golden rectangle border spinning along with the letters of "REGENT" and the same knight from before in gold. At the end, the symbol is seen in the rectangle next to the word.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A brass theme.

Availability: It appears on Sony Movies Action (UK) airings of Wildfire 7: The Inferno, Faultline and The Paradise Virus, all following the DARO Film Distribution logo.
