Visuals: There is the Warning screen scrolling up. The word "WARNING" is in red with white outline between two white lines; the warning text is in white and now appears in lowercase. The black bars are at the top and bottom of the screen, but faded.
Variants:
On classic MGM movies made in black-and-white, the warning is grayscaled.
On laserdiscs and CED Videodiscs, "cassette" is replaced by "videodisc".
On releases from MGM/CBS Home Video's "First Run Home Video Theater", a different warning spiel was used, which includes contact information to report pirated cassettes.

3rd Warning (June 13, 1990-August 30, 2005)

Variants:
On promotional tapes (or known as demo tapes or screeners), the text "LICENSED FOR PRIVATE HOME EXHIBITION ONLY" is replaced with "LICENSED FOR PROMOTIONAL PURPOSES ONLY".
On earlier MGM DVDs such as the 1997 DVD of GoldenEye, the warning contains more vertical space on the top and bottom, and the text on each paragraph has less spacing. A version with a darker red color for "WARNING" is also present on these DVDs as well.
Most MGM DVD releases from 2001-2005 have an updated version of this warning. A brighter shade of red is used, and the text is in the Futura font (except for "WARNING", which is set in the Franklin Gothic font).
On some tapes, the warning is slightly off-center.

When Sony acquired MGM in 2005, it went on to use the warning screens from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. MGM then switched to Fox's warnings when the home video rights were acquired by Fox the next year. Starting in 2020, with the end of MGM's video deal with Fox following its acquisition by Disney, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment now handles the home video rights to MGM's catalog titles (as well as releases of current and former MGM-produced TV series and Orion Pictures films, beginning with the 2020 remake of Valley Girl). Meanwhile, current MGM movie releases distributed through United Artists Releasing are distributed by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and would use their warnings.
