1st Warning (1988-1994)

Same as the early variant of the 1st Vestron Video warning screen at the time.

Availability: Seen on Weapons of War tapes co-distributed by Best Film & Video.

2nd Warning (1990)

Visuals: Over a red-black gradient background is the following text:

LEGAL WARNING
FOR PRIVATE HOME USE ONLY
ALL OTHER RIGHTS RESERVED


Federal law provides severe civil and criminal
penalties for the unauthorized reproduction,
distribution or exhibition of copyrighted
motion pictures, video tapes or video discs.

Criminal copyright infringement is investigated
by the FBI and may constitute a felony with
a maximum penalty of up to 5 years in prison
and/or a $250,000 fine.

3rd Warning (1994-1997)

Visuals: Same as the 1st WarnerVision Entertainment warning at the time, except the background is black, the word "LEGAL WARNING" is red and is smaller, and the two words, "FOR PRIVATE HOME USE ONLY" and "ALL OTHER RIGHTS RESERVED" are also smaller.

Variants:

  • Some releases instead use the original WarnerVision Entertainment warning.
  • On Hard Hat Harry's Real Life Adventures for Kids video series, the "LEGAL WARNING" in red plus a white outline and a shadow, is inside gray bar, and the two words, "FOR PRIVATE HOME USE ONLY" and "ALL OTHER RIGHTS RESERVED" are in red. The warning text is also arranged.

4th Warning (1995)

Same as the 1st Warner Home Video warning at the time.

Availability: Seen on the 1995 VHS of The World's Greatest Train Ride Videos: Scotland & Wales.

5th Warning (1995)

Visuals: Same as the 1992 variant of the 1st Time-Life Video warning at the time, except the background is even lighter and everything is in a different font. The word "motion pictures," is missing from the text.

Availability: Seen on the 1995 VHS of Hard Hat Harry's Real Life Giant Construction Equipment for Kids.

6th Warning (1996)

Visuals: Over a black background is the big blue word "WARNING", with the following text in white underneath:

USE ONLY. PUBLIC PERFORMANCE,
BROADCASTING, COMMERCIAL USE,
OR THE HIRING OUT TO THIRD PARTIES

7th Warning (1996-1997)
