Background

Universal Focus was the short-lived indie film division of Universal Studios, founded in 1999. It was shut down in 2002 by its merging with USA Films and Good Machine to form Focus Features, its current successor.

(August 5, 1999-October 12, 2002)

Logo: On a black background, we see a purple crescent fade in. Then the words "UNIVERSAL FOCUS" fade in from left to right. The crescent is between the words. The letters "UNIVERS" and "US" are purple, and "AL" and "FO" are white. There is also a blend between purple and white in "S" and a blend between white and purple in "C" as well.

Variants:

  • On the trailer for Beautiful Creatures, the logo starts out as blue, then changes to red and flashes. After the flash, it becomes blue again.
  • A still version exists.

FX/SFX: The fading of the crescent and words. For the trailer, the flash and color change to a reddish color.

Music/Sounds: None, or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Rare. Seen on The Caveman's Valentine and Billy Elliot.

Editor's Note: None.
