Regarding the THX edits

Could you at least explain your reasoning for including the material on the THX page? I feel a lot of it is extraneous, but I'm getting a lot of resistance from your friend Cassie. Let's try to work out a compromise between us three! Solarstrike (talk) 22:44, 23 August 2022 (UTC)

Okay, here is the list for your reasonings:

• I do have a Chinese bootleg DVD of The Phantom Menace, the legit UK DVD of A Bug's Life: Collector's Edition and they do have the Broadway trailer, even from Alan Grant's YouTube upload of his bootleg DVD opening to Shrek.
• This link is for the reasoning for the Broadway trailer to appear on the Spanish release of Princess Mononoke ([1])
• I used Internet Archive on the THX Trailers page on their website to find on when the Shrek and Horton trailers are actually released to the public.
• Some were just speculations like the unknown theatrical release date of the 'Science' trailer since I felt like this trailer was made for digital screenings of Revenge of the Sith considering that this film was 100% digital, including the cameras used, the fact that it was one of the earliest films to utilise Dolby's digital cinema projectors, and especially since you know the fact that Lucasfilm owned Star Wars and formally THX.
• If you listen carefully on the THX parody featured in Over the Hedge, you will hear the glittering from the 'Science' trailer, even if you don't hear it, try playing the trailer first and then the parody and maybe you'll hear it.
• For the plastering of the Warner Home Video logo to the THX Amazing Life trailer, I have the Blu-ray of The Clone Wars film and I remember that when I first played the disc, out of nowhere, the trailer appeared just before the menus with no sign of the Warner Home Video logo at all. Even though I'm from Britain, I don't know if this will apply only to US DVD and Blu-ray releases since the UK Blu-ray disc was just a duplicate of the USA authoring. But if I do have the UK DVD, it's possible that it would just play the Warner Home Video logo, but I don't know yet.

I'm not trying to put out fake details that's all. I just want you to know that everything I've added were mostly either true or just speculations as there are no details about the release date of the trailers from THX themselves and that the print logo appeared on the Disney distributed release of Princess Mononoke, but we don't know if the Broadway trailer is included on the disc. I'm not complaining about it being fake, I have no doubt what you're saying is real. What I'm trying to say is that some of the info doesn't seem necessary to mention - like the Brad Bird Tex speculation or the sound effect sources. Sure, they're interesting in a bubble - but do we really need to bring up Pixar's reframing process or mention where all the Shrek/Horton sounds come from in their respective films on a description for a certification company? To me, it just seems a bit out of scope for a logo description. If you can come up with a good reason on why those sections should be included, I'll gladly work it in with some refinement! Otherwise, I'm not really sure what to do. I also noticed you put the premiere of Broadway to the premiere of Temple of Doom - something which the Ultimate Demo Disc from 2001 stated isn't the case, it debuted in late 1983. However, let's keep working this out so we can try to make the best version of this page for us all!

Also, a word of advice - don't assume archive.org snapshots are the definitive be-all-end-all timeframe for logo availability. I usually look for press releases or news articles mentioning the logo's availability (that's where I got the original November 28, 2007 date for Amazing Life from). Okay, just to let you know, I did not add the theatrical debut date for the Broadway trailer. Also I have to include them just for anyone who hasn't seen either Shrek or Horton Hears a Who. The point I'm trying to make is that we don't need every single minute detail of the logos covered - if they wanted to figure out where the sound effects came from, most people would just figure it out on their own. (sigh) Alright, fine. I'll keep it but I'm going to slimline it a bit. We'll discuss about more things on the article in a bit, but I wanted to talk about the "surprise appearance on the 2017 re-release of The Muppets Christmas Carol" edit you made on WDP. I'm going to copy-paste my argument on why it shouldn't be on the article that I made with Cassie (with a couple of modifications) and ask how do you feel about it:

"A re-release of an existing work is expected to preserve the original logos of the production - that's why plasters are considered a big bugbear of the community. I get Disney has a tendency of plastering logos with newer ones (especially with the 2006 logo), which I can understand why some people might be surprised to see it still intact on that 2017 theatrical re-release. Nonetheless, just because it's surprising to this crowd doesn't mean it's surprising to everyone - remember, most people don't tend to think of logos when it comes to old films/TV shows. We don't act "surprised" every time the 1963 Universal logo shows up on their newest 4K Blu-rays of the films that used them theatrically - it's the expectation, plastering is the surprise." Okay - just because it was surprising for you to see, doesn't mean it's surprising for everyone. As I said before - plastering is the surprise, preservation is the expectation. Like I said, just speculations. If you don’t like those edits then I’m just going to say that this is borderline abuse and I just want people to do some research so they know that I am right. I mean, you actually don’t do any research, AT ALL!. Imagine if you were admin of this wiki? Would you actually tell them to stop spreading out lies even if it is true based of research? That would be stupid. In conclusion, please don’t remove my and other people’s edits, even if it’s interesting because it’s pissing people off right now.
