Sockpuppet problem notice:

Hello CooleyBoy10,

I am writing this to you tell you that I have been noticing that you've been having some sort of sockpuppeting trouble with a user who calls themselves Jackson. Would you like a Steward to perform a CheckUser on accounts relating to Jackson? I sent a report about this issue to the #cvt channel via Discord and hopefully either Dmehus or Void could fulfill this in hopes of stopping his sockpuppeting behavior. Oh wow, I wasn't expecting this....yes, that would be greatly appreciated!

So, if I remember right, the user was originally given a temporary block, because he was adding unnecessary edits to certain pages and causing edit wars as a result. So then he tried making a sockpuppet account (literally named "Jackson Reverts") to evade that temporary block--which turned it permanent.

He's pretty easy to spot, because he continually makes edits to the same few pages (Kari's Logo Here and one user's to-do list being two of them). CooleyBoy10 (talk) 20:53, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

I don't recall ever warning him--IIRC I was probably going to the second time he did it on Jackson's World. He actually went and then made a separate account for reverting edits immediately afterwards, which was the last straw. That was when the edit-warring started--and given he made a sockpuppet with a clearly malicious intent, that was when I banned him.

So, no, I don't think he was ever actually warned firsthand, but while is an acceptable compromise...I think the maliciousness of his first sockpuppet outweighs that idea in this case. CooleyBoy10 (talk) 21:22, 17 April 2021 (UTC)

CooleyBoy10 Apologies for the delay in following up with this, but I'm going to investigate potential abuse of user accounts policy; however, because of the lack of a talk page warning on the noted original account as to what local policies the user was violating that to their block, I'd be inclined to leave the noted original account unlocked and just lock any sockpuppet accounts, as applicable; however, I would like to be able to direct the user to their local wiki user talk page where they can properly appeal their block. If he vandalizes his talk page, then we know he has access, and clearly isn't here to constructively appeal their local block, and talk page access can be re-revoked and the final accounts locked. I saw it on the CLG Wiki:User Reports page. The reasoning there ("Judging by the edits they made on Company Bumpers Wiki, I suspect that they are a PBSArchive sockpuppet.") seems fairly plausible to me, considering how notoriously stubborn spammers sadly are on logo wikis. Ban of Jack Jackie Pomi

Hello. You recently blocked me as "LIKELY a Jackson puppet". For you to notice: I'm not related to Jackson, it's just a coincidence that our nicknames are similar. I'm different person, registered on Wikipedia (since 2015), Fandom (since about 2019), Wikimapia (since 2018) and Youtube (since 2015), without any vandal edits on them. On all these sites I'm Jack Pomi or Jack Jackie Pomi, my full nickname that i created about two years ago, with Jack Pomi being in place since 2017, derived from Jack Pomidorov in 2016.

It's great that you have disocrd server. Cutting off my abilities to write messages on the wiki was your bad idea. Only via discord I managed to contact with another administrator and ask for unblocking.

Not Cooley- one of his fellow admins, but apologies for that. Jackson was making socks left and right in the last week. We kind of had to adopt the "block all Jacksons" approach given the rate at which he was making accounts. I suppose a legitimate editor with the same name was bound to get caught in the crossfire eventually. He's been IP-banned now so this shouldn't be an issue for now. Requesting you revert this block

Following this request at Stewards' noticeboard, I'm kindly requesting you revert this block. Thinking someone has violated the wiki rules != knowing someone has. Even still, I'm not seeing where you engaged with the user, ideally multiple times, via clear and specific warnings before blocking indefinitely, in accordance with and consistent with the Code of Conduct, a global policy to which all Miraheze users are obliged to follow.

There is a rule on this wiki about "backseat moderation": "If you are a registered user, you cannot and must not pretend to be a staff member." Does repeatedly editing template pages without permission (including copying some from Wikipedia) and spamming own user page and the forums count as "backseat moderation"? I apologize for not doing that/being clearer. But like PM said I'd argue Rezal was constantly backseat moderating all throughout his time on the wiki, including editing template pages without permission and acting like an admin on the Requests for Adminship page and on his talk page/the forums.

My logic was that, because he was still spamming despite being warned and blocked from the forums, he wouldn't listen to any warnings and needed an immediate block. Like I said however, I apologize for doing that immediately. CooleyBoy10 (talk) 14:27, 2 May 2022 (UTC)

CooleyBoy10, okay. That's quite a weak block reason, to be quite honest, considering it could be argued that users posting requests for blocks at your administrators' noticeboard is functionally akin to "backseat moderation," at least some of those requests anyway. I'm not seeing where you've clearly warned them but nevertheless, I'd appreciate you providing a clear advice to the user regarding this, to use userspace sandboxes for drafting pages, to asking an administrator to review their sandbox pages before moving them to (Main) namespace, to use edit summaries, to understand the proper use of multiple accounts, and to unblock him with that guidance. Unfortunately it looks like PBSArchive is starting to wise up. He's used "Availlabillity" instead on this new page and it seems to have gotten him around it.
