Background

Tom Snyder Productions was the production company of the titular animator, Tom Snyder, formed in 1980. During the time period it was active, it was best known for Home Movies and Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, both of which utilized a new animation style called "Squigglevision". In 2001, the company was purchased by Scholastic and renamed Soup2Nuts. The Tom Snyder name was later revived as a company for developing software for schools, namely FASTT Math, but like Soup2Nuts, was closed in 2015 amid a restructuring of Scholastic, with FASTT Math acquired by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt.

1st Logo (May 28, 1995-January 22, 2000, 2010)

Logo: Up against an aqua green background with light shining in the middle, we see an awkwardly drawn rectangle on the left side of the screen showing a white ship flying in space by some planets. Overlapping the bottom of the rectangle is a robin egg blue rectangle with the white text "Tom Snyder Productions" inside.

Variant: On FASTT Math and Science Court, the drawing is smaller with the text in white or blue next to it, minus the rectangle. This logo also appears on educational content and books by the company.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: The end theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on the first two seasons of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist on DVD and VHS. Also appears on Science Court, FASTT Math and other educational content by the company.

2nd Logo (October 6, 1996-June 17, 1998)

Logo: Up against a white background, we see the same drawing as before in a rectangle in the middle of the screen, except this this the background of the drawing is purple, and the planets are slightly different and everything is a lot more poorly drawn. behind the drawing is a shadow and below is the text "Tom Snyder Productions" in black script. Everything is in Squigglevision.

Technique: The stuff moving around.

Music/Sounds: The end theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on the 3rd and 4th seasons of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist on DVD and VHS. Also seen on Science Court.

3rd Logo (June 17, 1998-February 12, 2002)

Logo: Same as before, except the original drawing is restored, the shadow is removed and the text is foam green. As with the previous logo, this was done in Squigglevision.

Technique: The stuff moving around.

Music/Sounds: The end theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on the last two seasons of Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist on DVD and VHS.

4th Logo (April 26, 1999-October 7, 2001)

Logo: On a medium red-violet background, we see a starry sky with a few planets, including Saturn, visible. In the center is a sheet with a drawing of a sailboat on it. The foam green text "Tom Snyder Productions" wiggles below the sailboat.

Technique: The text wiggling.

Variant: On Squigglevision, TBA.

Music/Sounds: The end theme plays over the logo.

Availability: Seen on The Dick & Paula Celebrity Special. This was also used in the first season of Home Movies (during both runs on UPN and Adult Swim), but has been plastered by the Soup2Nuts logo on post-2002 US prints (including the Season 1 DVD), but remains intact on international prints. Makes surprise appearances on the HBO Max prints of "I Don't Do Well In Parent-Teacher Conferences" and episodes 7 through 10, all of which use the international print (judging by the Fremantle Corporation logo that follows).
