Background

Mongrel Media is one of Canada’s leading film distribution companies specializing in art house, foreign and independent feature films and documentaries, established in 1994. It is the exclusive Canadian theatrical distributor for companies such as Sony Pictures Classics, IFC Films, Neon, select titles from Amazon Studios, A24 and a few other sources and is represented in Quebec by Métropole Films Distribution. In January 2014, it also acquired Canadian distribution rights to 300 film titles from the StudioCanal library.

1st Logo (????-????)

Logo: TBA

FX/SFX: TBA

Music/Sounds: TBA

Availability: TBA

2nd (?) Logo (200?-??)

Logo: We see the letters "moNgreL" jumbled up. The "N" zooms out revealing we have seen a reflection all along (a la 2002 Paramount Pictures logo). The letters set into place as a gray box wipes in and the URL "mongrelmedia.com" fades in

FX/SFX: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Has been seen on some Canadian prints of films such as An Education (2009)

3rd (?) Logo (201?-present)

Logo: On a dark blizzard background, we see a white wolf running. We zoom in too close, so the background becomes white. A pack of black wolves run. One of them gets too close to the camera, so the background turns black. The word "moNgreL" draws in and zooms out, Behind it a gray box fades in, and the URL "www.mongrelmedia.com" fades in.

FX/SFX: Seems to be paint animation.

Music/Sounds: A three-note piano tune, ending with a low bass note when the company name zooms out.

Availability: Seen on current Mongrel releases, like Canadian releases of Boyhood, Inside Llewyn Davis, and Terminator 2: Judgement Day.
