Ellipse Programme

(January 5, 1990-February 16, 1998)

Logo: On a black background, we see the white text "ELLIPSE" fading in. Then an orange line comes down from the word "ELLIPSE", and stops at the middle of the word. "PROGRAMME" appears below.

Variants:

  • A version has the same text, but a green line and "ANIMATION" where "PROGRAMME" should be, also green.
  • On Zorro (the early-1990s TV series), the logo was on a black background and was all white (with no line) inside a white outline. This variant was the early version.
  • On The Adventures of Tintin, the word "PROGRAMME" fades in late.

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: The closing theme of the show.

Music/Sounds Variant: On Doug, the Jumbo Pictures theme continues into this logo.

Availability: Rare.

  • The "Ellipse Programme" variant was seen on seasons 2-4 of Doug, Rupert and The Adventures of Tintin, and the "Ellipse Animation" variant appeared on The NeverEnding Story on HBO Family, Rupert on Qubo, and Blazing Dragons on Toon Disney (now Disney XD).
  • Most of these shows are not seen on TV anymore, but it's preserved on the first series on DVD, VHS, iTunes and sporadic airings on NickRewind (as well as on Pluto TV's Nickelodeon channel), and the latter series can be found on DVD from Shout! Factory.
  • Streaming prints of Blazing Dragons, as seen on PlutoTV and Tubi, also retain this logo as well.
