AVIDProjects
As we all know, the rapid expansion of AVID continues. We are seeing new articles of various graphics from all over the world. One major problem that currently persists on AVID, and that have occurred on the former CLG Wiki, is the inaccuracies of some articles, especially obscure logos and Eastern logos. We’ve tried to introduce a translation feature, but that did not work out that well. Thus, I propose an alternative to combat this:
What is AVIDProjects?
AVIDProjects is a group collaboration to improve the coverage of a subject. AVIDProjects can be of a specific company (e.g. AVIDProject Disney, AVIDProject BBC), a country (e.g. AVIDProject India, AVIDProject Hong Kong), or a type of graphic (e.g. AVIDProject Commercial Tags or AVIDProject Television Logos). A project can have multiple subprojects or “workgroups” that target more specific topics; i.e. AVIDProject Television Logos/Vanity Cards.
AVIDProjects would be listed under the AVID namespace.
What are the benefits of AVIDProjects?
AVIDProjects aims to improve the coverage of a subject by having a group of editors collaborate to work on an article, or articles. These editors can work together to find accurate background information of a company, logos that are not described yet, lost logos, reliable sources, and improve the accuracy of the availability section, and much more.
How will users in an AVIDProject communicate?
Users would communicate via an AVIDProject’s talk page which they can add to their watchlist. Communication via Discord is also possible, either with a new special role in the AVID Discord, or a separate Discord server.
How can I join an AVIDProject?
Joining a project is easy; users would add their signature on the main page of an AVIDProject, then they would add the project’s talk page to their watchlist. Finally, users can add a special userbox to their userpage should they wish to do so.
What can I do as an AVIDProject member?
Users can add a page to an AVIDProject-associated category. They can work together with other users of an AVIDProject to improve the accuracy and completeness of an article. They can also add reliable and helpful sources to the main page of an AVIDProject, or add something to a “to-do” list of a project.
How can I propose a new AVIDProject?
You can propose a new project via a new page: AVID:Request a Project. The mechanism is similar to Request for Comments, with the differences being:
- Proposers must put a list of articles that fall under the scope of the proposed project in their proposal;
- There will be an additional notice for the Support section: supporters can specify whether they want to be a member of the proposed project, should the project pass.
A bureaucrat can approve or reject a request. Once approved, the project will be created.
What AVIDProject is not
- AVIDProject is not a rule-making group or organization
- AVIDProject does not own an article, but merely monitors and improves it
- AVIDProject members do not have special privileges above other users.
TL;DR: AVIDProject aims to improve an article’s accuracy by having a group of editors work on that article, and other related articles. It is hoped that this can work as a better alternative to the translation feature in improving the accuracy of lesser-known pages and provide a space for like-minded editors to collaborate and discuss about their topic. Support
- Support 100%. This is essential to the clip-on library project as well as all others. (Talk!) 16:52, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support we desparately need some improvements in quality control, this would be guaranteed to help in that matter. (Lets chat!) 03:22, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

- Support. I've always felt a bit alone in my specialty (cinema trailers), so a project for it as well as other logo specialties will help tremendously. Dominicmgm (talk) 09:23, 18 April 2023 (UTC)
- agree. I am alone in my clip-on extraction project. AVIDprojects would assist both of us (Talk!) 16:57, 18 April 2023 (UTC)

- Support per everyone else. I actually did a project with 2 others regarding the Walt Disney Home Video page. We eventually added pretty much every missing variant to the page, some even revealing new logos too. Glad to see this getting an official feature if this passes. - Support No doubt several editors working in groups focused on a specific topic will be key to our further success. Exactly like the "one for all, all for one" motif. PM pinter (talk) 13:05, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support Teamwork always pays off. 13:12, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support. Team efforts have often resulted in some of our best articles. Once this passes, I might look at making My Aussie TV project (which I’ve kinda neglected of late) into an official AVIDProject. (Talk · Edits) 13:47, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
- Support per above! This is a great idea! (Talk to Me!) 14:38, 19 April 2023 (UTC)
