Background

Uni Distribution Corp. was a media distribution division of MCA Music Entertainment Group, created in 1990. It did not have a solid logo until 1991.

This faction distributed home video releases as well as music releases under the MCA-owned labels, MCA Records, Universal Records, Republic Records, Motown, Interscope Records, Geffen Records, DGC Records and DreamWorks Records.

In December 1996, Uni Distribution ceased to exist after its parent MCA was renamed Universal Studios. In that notion, MCA Music Entertainment was also rebranded as Universal Music Group, transferring all of its labels into what is now the biggest music company today. Uni Distribution was also renamed Universal Music & Video Distribution, Corp. That would later be changed in 2005 simply into Universal Music Distribution. Ten years later, Universal Music Group dissolved their distribution plant as part of a company staff rearrangement in order to "create even stronger ties between our centralized teams and labels".[1]
