Background

THQ released the uDraw GameTablet, a gaming graphics tablet, on November 14, 2010 in America, February 24, 2011 in Australia, and March 4, 2011 in Europe. Originally released only for the Wii, it was later released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 15, 2011. It came in white (Wii-only) and black versions.

Though the initial release for the Wii was met with some success, the expanded release for the PS3 and Xbox 360 wasn't successful and has been described as a "disaster", with the uDraw only having ten games that were compatible with it, all of them published by THQ. Among the games compatible with the uDraw were uDraw Studio (which was bundled with the original Wii version), uDraw Studio: Instant Artist (bundled with all other versions) and the Wii version of SpongeBob SquigglePants; a 11th game, Disney Animator, was planned for release in March 2012 but ultimately cancelled.

THQ discontinued production of the uDraw in early February 2012, and it was described by former company president Jason Rubin as one of the "massive mistakes" that had led to the company's demise that December.

Logo (November 14, 2010-November 15, 2011)

Visuals: A stylus (not unlike the one used with the uDraw) draws a multicolored line on a white background. The stylus curves a few times (as does the line it is drawing) as it comes closer to the camera before it flies to the top-right and goes offscreen, leaving the line it drew. The screen cuts to another shot of the background, and the stylus reappears and draws "uDraw"; "u" is multicolored, and "Draw" is in a multicolored scribble. When the stylus finishes drawing, it goes offscreen again, and "GAMETABLET" fades in below the uDraw logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Drawing sounds for the stylus, some whooshes and a 2-note tune when "GAMETABLET" appears.

Availability: Seen on games that are compatible with the uDraw GameTablet, including the Wii version of SpongeBob SquigglePants and uDraw Studio.
