Background

Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB) is a television broadcasting company based in Hong Kong SAR, incorporated on July 26, 1965 and commencing broadcasting on November 19, 1967. It currently operates five free-to-air terrestrial television channels in Hong Kong, which consist of TVB Jade, TVB Pearl, TVB News Channel, TVB J2, and TVB Finance, Sports & Information Channel.

Logo (1981-)

Visuals: Superimposed over the scrolling credits is the TVB print logo (a rounded square with a hole in shape of a circle with three lines around it), either yellow, blue, green or fluorescent green. The Chinese text and the copyright stamp appears below the scrolling credits.

Variants:

Early 70s variant has the white logo and the plain Chinese characters and copyright stamp on a blue or black background.
Usually, there are 2 variants:
- This variant is used for the 1990-1991 TVB programmes, sometimes there is a English text below.
- Sometimes, there is no English text.
- Some TVB shows between 1981 to 1989 like The Understudy (戲班小子) have the Chinese name and the copyright stamps appearances in a slightly smaller size, and the print TVB logo is in slightly larger size. Other shows may have the normal/slightly big size of the Chinese name and the copyright stamps.
The position of the logo may vary.
An 1981 or 1982 variant has a logo and stamp in a down position.
There is a 1990 variant with a drop shadow in black.
There is a early variant used from 1973 to 1980 where the TVB logo is omitted from the in-credit, and the Chinese text and copyright stamp maybe appear below the superimposed scenes.
Sometimes, there is a English name added on the top of Chinese characters.
There is a another variant with the headphones icon and the Chinese characters translates to "In Stereo".
On 过客, the Chinese text is in a different font, and the position of the logo is different.
The later variant has the URL website, www.tvb.com (from 2000 to present) or www.tvb.com.hk (from 1998 to 2000). Sometimes (on the early version) has the full English company name on the top.
- In late 1994, a enhanced version of the outlined colored variants were introduced, with the copyright stamp aligned in the right.
- Starting in late 1998, the URL, http://www.tvb.com.hk, is added below the copyright stamp.
- In May 2000, the URL has renamed to its official name, http://www.tvb.com, until circa 2003.
- Starting in 2003, the Chinese text is different and in the Chinese version of Arial font, with copyright stamp appearance in its italicized writing form. The URL from the 2000 version is not stacked, but smaller, and is also aligned to the right, plus has URL in its italicized form. Shortly after in 2003, the TVB logo has changed to a 2D drawing version that is a different of the official logo, with blue, green and red inside.
- In 2008, the Chinese text, copyright stamp, and the URL is in white and appears in drop shadow. The difference that the TVB logo is changed to a CGI image rendering of the official logo.
- In possibly 2013, the Chinese text, copyright stamp, and the URL (from the 2008 version) stills in white but appears in different drop shadow effect. Also, the English names is added in the center, but the copyright stamp and URL is aligned in the center, and has URL placed on the near bottom.
On some 1996-2004 shows, like The Twilight Tube and At the Threshold of an Era II, the 1994-2005 version of the logo is used, with "Television Broadcasts Limited" name added to make room for the English and Chinese translations. Also, the URL website is added around 1998-2005.
Current variant has the TVB logo on the left or right, with Chinese characters and English name in drop shadow, with the URL website, www.tvb.com, on the left or right, depends on the position.
Starting in (possibly) late 2018, the website URL (on the near bottom) has been replaced with myTV Super and Big Big Channel logos on left and right, with the combos placed on the below of copyright stamp, since the 2008 logo.

Availability: Probably the most common closing logo in Hong Kong television, having featured on its HK dramas and series episodes on TVB channels. It was seen on some TVB Jade shows and drama episodes of the period, as well as a other TVB Jade local programming of the time, which programming are long gone.
