Background

TDK Mediactive Europe was the media division owned by TDK Recording Media Europe, a defunct subsidiary of Japanese electronics company TDK. It was founded in 1999 and distributed and published CDs, DVDs and video games.

The company gained a sister business in the United States when TDK purchased Sound Source Interactive in 2000 and obtained the TDK Mediactive name, however, they exclusively focused on the publication of video games. With this, TDK Mediactive's US operations became TDK Mediactive Europe's major supplier in the video game market.

The operations of the company were largely unaffected when the US division was sold to Take-Two Interactive Software in December 2003, and TDK Mediactive Europe continued to publish their own titles exclusively for the European market. However, as they had lost their major supplier, the company eventually sold their upcoming published games in May 2005 to Playlogic Entertainment and silently ceased operations.
