Background

This is the television division of Silver Pictures, Joel Silver's production company.

1st Logo (August 5, 1990-October 5, 2005)

Visuals: Essentially just the final moments of the first Silver Pictures logo, with "T E L E V I S I O N" below.

Trivia: This logo debuted more than a year before its movie counterpart.

Variants:

  • On Parker Kane, the logo is on a black-silver gradient background. The chip shines.
  • A long variant has the logo start when the chip is almost formed.
  • On Next Action Star, the logo is next to the Warner Bros. Television logo.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Eight of the nine orchestral hits from the end of the movie logo's fanfare, composed by Michael Kamen.

Audio Variants:

  • Sometimes, the end title theme plays over it.
  • The long version has the last part of the fanfare.

Availability: It debuted on Parker Kane. It is also seen on season 1 and some season 2 episodes of Veronica Mars as well as Action. The long version can be found on the short-lived series Freedom.

2nd Logo (September 28, 2005-October 22, 2014)

Visuals: Merely a shortened, sped-up version of the Silver Pictures logo at the time.

Variants:

  • Until 2006, the logo is still.
  • Starting with season 3 of Veronica Mars, the word "TELEVISION" is added below the logo. It is also slower.
  • On My Friends Call Me Johnny, the logo is slightly longer and is sped up again.

Technique: CGI by Prologue.

Audio: Same as the previous logo, a whoosh sound effect, or in the case of My Friends Call Me Johnny, none. Original CW and CBS airings used a generic theme.

Availability: Seen on Veronica Mars starting with season 2 and Moonlight. Also seen on My Friends Call Me Johnny on Esquire Network, as well as the failed pilot of The Odds.
