Sic Semper Tyrannis

From the Audiovisual Identity Database, the motion graphics museum

Background

Sic Semper Tyrannis is the vanity plate of Christopher Cantwell and Christopher C. Rogers. The name means "Thus always to tyrants" in Latin. In addition to being the the state motto for Virginia, it was the phrase uttered by Marcus Brutus upon assassinating Julius Caesar, as well as by John Wilkes Booth after he shot President Abraham Lincoln.

1st Logo (August 21, 2016-October 14, 2017)

Visuals: Outside at night, everything in black-and-white is the back view of a man and a woman in 1860s style formal wear, with a cannon in front of them, all while being situated near a river with grass. Another woman is seen on the lower left. Superimposed over it are the words "SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS", in the Constantine font. All of a sudden, an explosion then goes off as the cannon fires, with electric sparks coming out, causing everyone to gasp in shock (the couple in the front also move back a bit) while making the camera shake. The words also get a bit bigger when the explosion goes off.

Technique: Live-action.

Audio: The closing theme.

Availability: Seen on seasons 3-4 of Halt and Catch Fire.

2nd Logo (July 29, 2022-)

Visuals: There is a photograph of the explosion from the previous logo (now in color and shown from a side angle) with the company name in small text at the bottom-right corner of the photo in a different font. It is above the Plan B Entertainment logo.

Technique: A still, live-action photograph.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on Paper Girls.
